Blown turbo
Blown turbo
Hi there. I have a 2010 LNF. I was doing a pull on the highway when suddenly the it started misfiring with flashing check engine light.
I can confirm that the turbo has blown. Lots of oil in the charge pipes, and there was a crazy amount of white smoke.
im just wondering if the turbo would cause a misfire, or if I may have caused more damage to the engine itself. Only thing I could think is if the oil is messing with the sensors/spark plugs etc, causing this misfire.
in edition, I also have a noise upon startup which I believe to be the impeller in the turbo. Kind of just wondering if anybody has experienced this, and if they had a similar noise in their turbo after blowing it..If they had a missfire immediately after.
thanks

I know my first Z54 failure it would barely build boost but the wheel would hit the housing. The second Z54 I had fail made a loud tink sound then just sounded like a hair dryer and made zero boost. I didn't really get any oil blown through the second time, but the first filled the pipes with oil and smoked like crazy.
Edit: as to misfires, excessive oil in the combustion chamber can easily do that.
