The point of the thread is for the forum to help me decide what to buy for parts based off of user experience. Please tell me what to buy.

I have two questions for HHRSSouth and drewbroo

1. What mods do you have.
2. What is the boost pressure at 6000, 6500, and 7000rpm.

I would like to know so that I can identify where in the compressor map you are operating. I believe that this turbo has yet to be squeezed for an additional 10 - 20 hp.

My goals are for whp.

For all other users tell me what to buy. My checkbook is open.

I would like to know more about this ZZP transmission.

For those of you who don't know, borg warner has a program called Matchbot. I advise that every serious cobalt owner have fun using the program. This program is the reason why I haven't gone big turbo yet. The smaller turbo 2871 is more of a street turbo while the big EFR turbo will be a high speed freeway or strip turbo. The drawback of the larger turbos will be Surge at low rpms and in particular under 3000rpm if you crank up the boost. A new EFR turbo is a definite yes and will be loads of fun but I can't wait a full calendar year. Maybe next year.
1. What mods do you have.

CIA Charge pipes, ZZP Maf relocate, Tial Q BOV, ZZP Intercooler, Synapse catless DP, 3'' borla catback, K&N SRI, GMS1 Sensors (From performance autowerks), spec SIII 6 Puck, BNR2871, ZZP Rotated Gen 3 trans mounts.

2. What is the boost pressure at 6000, 6500, and 7000rpm.

25 PSI, 25PSI, 25 PSI I am also above 3000Ft in most places here

The EFR car we built spooled exactly like the stock turbo with obviously a LOT more top end. So not sure where you say it isn't a street turbo, that's false.

But if your goal is only 400whp, then the 2871 will suit you just fine.

Based off of your altitude at 3000ft and your claimed 25psi to redline, this 2871 turbo is at 2.786 pressure ratio and approx 425lb/min airflow which equates to around 380-425hp depending on tuning etc to squeeze every last hp out of this turbo. To attain anything more from your turbo you can get more lb/min flow by moving to sea level or by increasing the volumetric efficiency of the motor. All of the mods you have are reasonable for keeping the restrictions to a minimum. You'll notice that my build list involves a cam. This should decrease the pressure ratio allowing me to run more lb/min. My only disadvantage is that I'm at a higher altitude which will work against me. It will be a close call trying to clear 400whp.

BYT fyi I'm not creating a debate about what turbo will produce extra power or spool up times. The facts are that at 10-15lb/min airflow the 2871 will run at a higher pressure ratio before going into surge. I climb mountains unlike you prairie dogs and would like to do so in top gear while going through the mountain passes at over 6000ft.

I will run an EFR when it becomes available. Sell the 2871 for half price and take a loss of under $750. Small price to pay for a whole summer of fun. Hope that the EFR kit gets completed by then or alot of people are fucked.

BYT, head on over to the rockies and I'll be happy to show you a good time. Before you come though please bring the EFR7064 turbo and manifold and I'll gladly have the cash in hand. I'm not out to break any records. Thats best left to the vendors.

That welcome is available to all vendors. I can appreciate having the parts available to us. I hope that the competition wars continue as all LNF owners benefit big time.

Murd,

You rich bastard lol.

I'm considering the Transmission and if you have the spare cash, I highly recommend you give the transmission a try and review for us.

Click ---> Transmission Hope that helps.

I think I"m gonna do the BNRGT2871 for my goal is 350whp because I wanna keep my tranny as long as possible until I build enough cash to get the stage one then I'll shoot for 400whp.

its not hard to make power on. Its just alot of people on this site have no idea what power it makes. I made 393WHP/427ftlbs (also had a run of 398WHP but they printed my low sheet) on the BNR on a mustang dyno, and I am not even fully dialed in yet on the stock manifold. (So on a dynojet 420WHP should be easy to make)

Thanks for the lead on the tranny. I'll get it priced out. I'm thinking stage 2 or 3 whichever keeps the gears engaged. Also I'm trying to get some aftermarket rear calipers. Mine are the *****. I'm thinking of having wilwood's. Unless someone else already makes an upgrade. Mine keeps on sticking, can't keep them from getting dirty and fouling. Seems like they need servicing every 20k. Its the main reason I want to do this car in.

Hope stock charge piping can be used with the EFR turbo, so I could pop my hood and appear to stock.

Correction you have a true GT2871R, ball bearing full Garret unit, it required a kit with new manifold or adapter, DP, etc.

The BNR is a GT2871 Journal Bearing K04 hybrid, that is a true bolt on minus a BOV. there is the difference.

If I had 93 Oct around here it would make about the same power. The actual OCT equivalent of E47 (with 91 Oct.) is 93 Oct. Also uses alot more injector.

Push your turbo to 28psi and you should be close to 450hp. I bet i could be over 450hp on a dynojet with my old setup with 91 and water/meth at 28psi. I did have the bnr on my car and was pushing 28psi with 50/50 e85/91 but tuned for 4500ft. It felt a lot faster then the synapse kit.

Where is the upper charge pipe? And it looks like a complete removal of the vac solenoid. Best LNF Bay cleanup ever.

It is routed under the car. Its actually above the bottom of the subframe and on this guy's car, it's SUPER low and bouncy. We have yet to hit it on anything tho lol. So I think it will hold up just fine!

BYT where can I get the manifold? Do we have any numbers for this setup? How much is the cost? I will buy it today if it is available. Is this available to the whole community or was this just a one time custom build?

ZZP was working on a bolt up housing so that we wouldn't have to buy a new manifold.

This isn't available for sale to people. We can certainly build you one and are working on a "kit" with several options. We're just making sure everything is solid before offering it to anyone else. It's a new custom manifold, downpipe, intake and CP's. We will be also offering a version that will adapt to current Intakes and CP's but it will have to have our replacement DP no matter what it's looking like. More info will come out soon, we're just letting tidbits out here and there right now
