boost higher randomly?

okay, first off, I did a search for this, and read probably about 10 threads, but all the ones I read people were tuned. my car is a completely stock 08 ss/tc except for a K&N intake.

So, I just went and drove my car, and the whole time i've had it, it's been boosting 15 psi.

well getting onto the highway earlier, I have to cut across 5 lanes very quickly to get to my exit, so I gun it, and my car goes to 15 psi and then around 4.5 - 5k RPM it just randomly jumps up to 18psi.

Should I be concerned by this or is my TC just having a good day? lol.

Also, I live in san diego so it's not like the weather has been any different than it usually is.

My guess is clogged cat? Can u rev it up completely or does it feel like you have hit a wall after a certain rpm?

stock tune has learndown, stock tune will use as much boost as it needs to create 260hp, something, whether it was warmer air, thiner air, or something caused it to need more boost to reach 260 hp.

52k miles. How would I know if the cat is clogged? I'm pretty sure I can rev it completely. not entirely sure what you mean.

I know about the learn down feature, and this makes sense as to why it would do it. But whats causing it is beyond me.

Well at higher velocity you should have more wind resistance coming at your car and that's where you might see the spike in boost until it levels off/ and your k&N intake will help with suckin more air. My thoughts.

What you describe is normal. Boost pressures have very little meaning with this car.

I agree, when I was stock tuned I spiked to 18psi all the time it just needs that amount of boost to hit 260/260 your not making any more power. I'd be more focused on the boost level if it dropped drastically.
