Boosting at idle...WTF!?!

Okay so every once and a while since getting my GMS1 I. Get an erratic idle on cold starts during high idle only..... during the normal high idle cold start the rpms will erraticly fluctuate from like 1500 to 700 or 800.

However, today when I started the car for the first time I got the erratic idle but every time the rpms dropped I heard my bpv blow off...I looked up and noticed I was boosting about 5psi. So, everytime the rpms dropped my bpv went off. It was really weird....

The intake seems tight as does everything else. Maybe its time to say buhbye to dejons sri?

Any thoughts?

He is experiencing what many others are with the GM stage 1 kit. The car is experiencing compressor surge. There are 3-4 others on here with GM stage 1 and the same issue. There is an issue somewhere that is not tune related because my car does not surge at all and I have GM stage one sensors and OS in my car (Modded tune of course) I do not have any issues but I installed my sensors myself and I log my car all the time to make sure there are no issues. In this case I do not think tuning will fix the issue. OP, try going back to your stock airbox, disconnect the connectors from the ECM or disconnect the negative battery terminal to reset the ECM and see if the issue returns.

sounds like the same issues i had with my old lsj. i had oil build up in the throttlebody and would make it surge at idle. dunno if i would be the same on the lnf.

Could be. Some have reported oil in the lower CP at times. When I had mine off it was bone dry but I did notice the TB was looking tarnished / varnished.

well i remember that the TB didnt look bad on the outside. but once i pulled it off it was horrible. there wasnt much in the CAI either. i dunno how much work it would be to pull the TB off but it cant be too bad. might be worth a look.

Okay, so as I said above my cars been running and acting weird lately. Then today during normal driving I finally got a CeL. My shop is closed so I can't scan it. However, I checked with onstar in they said it is a air intake system code......

Bye bye dejon, hello stock intake. Too bad, I love the sound of the dejon. I wonder if the issue is because of all the pollen around here lately....thoughts??

A friend of mine reported fluttering/surging on his TC (even when custom tuned) with his intake installed when he first started the car (he had the AEM). It wasn't quite to the extreme of yours boosting at idle, but it was clearly audible when he started the car. Assuming you've seen a huge increase in temperatures in MA like we have here in Ontario, perhaps that has something to do with it but I'm no expert when it comes to intakes (all I know is after reading how many of them simply do not work unless tuned for I'm avoiding them) so I'm just kinda throwing it out there.

Okay, Im putting the stock intake back on as we speak. I noticed a little oil built up at the end of the intake just by the turbo inlet... thats normal right? I remember seeing it there back when I first took my stock airbox off, so its not something new...

Alright, stock box is back on and I unplugged the battery for a bit to let the ECM reset. Im going to take it out now and see how she does....

Yeah, that's normal. It comes from your breather hose in your intake.

I didnt think anybody was waiting for an update lol....

It feels like it runs much better. Its SO quiet now lol! No more spooling or loud BPV. Im not gonna lie, I missed it a little at first, but I dont mind the quiet now..... plus because its so quiet the power feels like it comes out of no where.

I did get the bucking again with very very light throttle in 3rd gear @ 30-40mph like I had been getting, however no CELs. Also, NO MORE boosting at idle during cold start, and no more erratic idle.

I would confidently say it is running MUCH better without the intake. Im definitely not putting it back on. Once the Vette is back on the road, Ill probably throw some money at the Balt and get a Catted DP.....but no other modding other than that for now.

Sell the Dejon and buy a Trifecta tune and DP.

Started my car up today going to lunch. I have the GMS1 with a Trifecta tune on top of it at the push of a button of course. Started the car up on GMS1 with HAHN CAI. Had the exact same problem except it was only boosting to about 1.5 PSI. Pretty sure I have a leak in my Injen CP because my new silicone hoses just now arrived at my house and I am of course at work. Hopefully once I get retuned and the cat warm up delete is gone (which is pointless because I have a catless dp) the issue will be gone.

Still having the stutering issue that you are having when driving the car period.

The other day I had the issue of the car just turning off or randomly stalling. Went to the point of when the car was started it would just shut off. Pulled the intake and MAF completly apart and put it back together. That finally fixed the issue.

The only thing that has changed to me is the air temperature from of course cold to hot as ****....and the humidity. I'm thinking this has to be the cause of this. I was going to switch to a dry flow intake such as AEM's, but it seems people are still experiencing similar issues.
