Don't worry not another one of my crazy threads. I just got back from NY (now in el paso tx)and came across a few other cobalt owners and joined their car club. After a meet and talking bout me getting a tune 2 of the members offered me their tunes for bout $100-$150 dollars. the first has a trifecta but it was tuned further north on 93 and he was making bout 10-15whp more then what im making now(291whp). he has the cable and said i can try it out and see if i like it the set boost i think is 23lbs. I'm not sure bout this one cuz its tuned for a different fuel (we have 91 here). The other is a HP tune from a guy with the same mods Different company though he was making i think 320-325whp if i remember correctly and he is tuned for 91 on 26lbs boost. he said all i hav to do is buy the credits and i can use it. what do ya'll think trying to hav this done buy saturday. tryin to stay away from the shop that i was warned about by both everyone on this forum and some of the club members, i do not kno anything bout using the HP tuners.

 

Getting hp tuned is a great idea. Getting a copy of somebody else's hp tune is a not. A tune needs to be custom tailored to your car, even 2 identical cars can take tunes very differently

 

Your fuel trims would still have to be straightened out by a tuner. Every car's tune is different.

 

Yeah if you borrow any Tuner it needs to be logged for your car. So therefore its safe and you get the most out of it. 26lbs on 91 .. can you say complete *******....

so buy the credits and get my car tuned on its own, got it. back to square 1. gotta find a TUNER here in el paso lots of the shops that say they tune im hearig all kind of stories bout from other guys on base with different vehicles so i guess i might hav to travel somewhere else and get tuned. I thought 26 was a lil high i'll be satisfied with 23lbs if running that is safe.

 

you don't just buy credits, you buy the credits and use the cable/box to log and write tunes....so whoever you get to do it, make sure they aren't going anywhere anytime soon lol, cause if they do you're out 100 and have to buy credits with someone else.....you can use their hpt box and get someone to remotely tune you .
