ok so I finally decided $10 is $10 and bought the spring last night.... now is a 2mm washer a must in installing this? I can't even find 2mm washers at hardware stores(4mm is as small as they have, checked Lowes and Home Depot), would the parts stores have them instead??? Spring hasn't arrived yet(obviously)

alright, that is what I was thinking but saw that about the washer and it had me confused, plan on installing it this weekend, and I hate seeing HHRs here, oh has nothing to do with the vehicles or the owners, just pisses me off to see "GM STAGE 1" in your sigs, lol

if you do this mod, a 1/4" swivel is pretty much a must, as there is no way you can get an extension onto the hose clamp nut without it, with a swivel, it takes a few seconds to get part of the intake that connects to the turbo off, I used SEVERAL 1/4" extensions so that they were out in the clearance that isn't a must but makes it much easier... getting the BOV plate back on was a bitch(trying to get the back nut started took forever) but its pretty simple(much harder than stock because the spring is so much stiffer), I only dropped one of the screws once, lol... magnet saved me

a video I made(note, i'm running an opencone fenderwell intake as well)

Yeah, I was going to put my spring in tonight and couldn't get to the bolt to loosen the intake clamp to get it off. I tried seeing if I could manage without taking it off, but there just isn't enough room or unobstructed lines that an extension can be used in. I'm going to try to find a rachet u-joint or something of that sort tomorrow.

Thanks for the help!

Just ordered mine as I'm getting the C.I.A. SRI shortly (as soon as they can figure out the MAF issues) and I know this will sound bad ass combined!

For 13 bucks total (including shipping), I decided, why the hell not?!?!

Ok I just got my spring today but how in the world do I take off that part I am suppose to off? Its at the back of the engine with very little room and its not that easy to do I would say. You need like girl hands to get your hands in there.

Anybody have any advice?

Ok So I installed it with the instructions that were on the first page. I took it for a drive and it does nothing at all. The sound isn't louder or anything. I think some of you people are imagining things!

Under normal boost, I didn't hear any real difference. When venting at 20+ psi, though, it made more of a pop than a hiss, if that makes any sense.

With a tune, you can adjust for just about anything to not throw a code

its most definitely a different sound, are you on the stock airbox? If so, that is probably why it isn't any louder...

its not that much louder, but like he said it "pops".... but it is louder

No lift shift w/ BOV

I was looking through here, I didn't see if anyone said how or if this affects the 'No-lift shift' feature. I'm not very knowledgable with engines and all that.. anyone who knows, it would help. Thanks.

no... of course not, all it is, is a spring, here is the stock one, its just a stiffer one of these:

no ill effects from installing it, may prevent a boost leak in the future

and its also much harder to get the plate back on with the new spring than the stock one, because its much stiffer and you have a limited space to work in, that is the hardest part of the job(that or getting to the hose clamp on the intake piping on the turbo inlet, which is easy with that swivel in the pic above)

this is also the last time I take a photo of my hand, lol

I'm @ roughly 3500 miles(08 TC). Somewhere around 2000 miles I treated myself to a "spirited" round of backroad fun, running it up to 5K rpm or so and for the 1st time heard the bypass valve sound off(popped the ol' cherry so to speak). I honestly don't think I've heard it since.Car is running ok but I'm thinking the factory spring has already crapped out or is just plain weak-either way for $10 I'll probably give this a shot. Maybe I just need to stomp it more often and listen harder
