Burning oil...at idle only.

I blew my car up a while back, ended up doing an engine build, weisco pistons, zzp girdled block, and zzp rods, with ARP headstuds. Car was put back together a month ago, since then has been driven to CED,and stayed in wisconsin for 3 weeks, and back home to florida(hell of a break in period ) anyways about two weeks after the build,I was stopped and got out of the car to take a picture, and left it idle. after a few moments I noticed it was smoking, out of the exhaust. lasted a few seconds and went away. since then I noticed it will smoke a little at idle, not all the time, just at random times. It's only at idle,Never during a pull,or any type of acceleration. The car has no codes,0 misfires, and runs like a champ. Just cant figure out,why it burns oil,and at idle only. It doesnt even burn enough to notice a drop on the dip stick at all. Tommorow I'm going to replace the PCV,and hope that's all it is, but curious if that doesnt fix it,if anyone has ever had or knew of this problem, and what it could possibly be?

Are you sure it's oil? What color is the smoke?

PS: Which car was yours at CED?

Yeah I thought that was you. I liked your windshield message.

Well if its def. blue smoke then that is weird. I'd be interested to hear if your PCV fix cures it.

Hey, question OP....is that a new head as well? If so, then it takes a while for the valve seals to seat and burn off all assembly lube. Took mine 500 miles to noticeably drop in oil burning and about 1000 to completely stop.

At idle I would think more valve stem seals, they typically show up on first startup after letting it sit, or idling for some time before taking off.

the thing is about minimal smoke though, is that it probably isn't just at idle. you just can't see it while moving..

doubt this, after intitial start up,from the build,it smoked for awhile, burning up all the oil, left in places it doesnt belong from the blow up. didnt start smoking at idle untill 2 weeks after the build and over 2k miles put on it.

You did decellerate using the engine a bunch correct? That seats the rings.

I'm wondering if one of your valve seals became torn. How many miles were on your original engine?
