Cobalt SS LNF Newbie! Mods....?
Cobalt SS LNF Newbie! Mods....?
Just got an 08 Cobalt SS yesterday and I'm way too anxious and bought a borla 16" inch Xr-1 racing muffler, Injen cold air intake, and Injen upper charging pipes. I also plan on getting a catless down pipe, and of course upgrading my PCM. What PCM upgrade would anyone recomend for these mods? I see ZZP has a few different options to choose from but I just dont know what would be best for my application. Also would it be worth it to put a ZZP lower charge pipe on with a blow off valve?
should have gotten k&n short ram instead, cai are pains cause the filter gets wet and messes with the car. yes get a lower charge pipe, and also a new intercooler. get ride of all that plastic crap gm put in there. all air piping and the intercooler end tanks are plastic as well so thats why new intercooler. zzp has good one as well as tredstone. tunes, hptuners or trifecta. both are great. hptuners is more aggresive apperently. or u can get a combo trifecta/hptune. i like trifecta cause u can turn the tune on and off with cruise control button or traction control button. one thing about having it on traction control though, if ur abs or esc malfunctions triping a warning, ur tune will activate. what else. ottp tranny mounts are great. and no u dont need a bov, more trouble than they are worth. just upgrade the stock bpv. even without upgrading it, with an intake still sounds like u got a bov. its pretty loud

I ran a Hahn CAI for over a year with no issue, but as others have said, get a legit tune, none of that canned tune bull **** and also as they have said until you tune you won't gain any power, the ecm will cut your boost to keep you at 245/245... no once you turn off the ECM relearn with a legit tune, those bolt-ons are good for about 20-30whp, and the tune alone will give you 40+whp... and get the Forge Motorsport BPV, quality unit(stock plastic one WILL falter over time at 20+ psi, mine about fell apart when I replaced it with the Forge BPV)... the Forge BPV also doesn't cause any turbo surge or anything, one of the best mods for the money, I got in on one of the group buys
bolt-on and a good tune, its not uncommon to see 300-310whp... the turbo Cobalts are deceivingly quick when modded, its why I miss mine... the look people had on their face when they got walked embarrassingly by a turbo Cobalt can not be replicated in the Camaro.... people expect it to be fast, its a V8 Camaro, they just never saw it coming from a Cobalt
