Cobalt SS/TC mods??

Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum. I am getting an 09 Cobalt SS in a couple months, well ordering it, then getting it a couple months after that . I was wondering what you guys thought the best performance parts would be as far as brand goes or even packages to buy that put out the best performance. I don't really care about price as long as it's not ridiculous. I really want more than 400hp/tq

Iz wanna have fun

If you have any suggestions, Thanks for help

Mods, there are a few companies that have them, but I would look into Hahn, Turbo Tech Racing, or Clear Image Auto to name a few. I would go for exhaust, intake and a nice tune, that is only around $1200 or so if you tune with Trifecta or HPtuners. With just those few mods the TC will put down over 300whp and even more torque. Welcome to the forums, and just search around you will find alot of info.

You want 400 HP at the wheels? Lordy, you're looking at the whole kit and kaboodle. Namely, 3" catless downpipe, 3" catback exhaust, cold air intake, charge pipes, intercooler, big turbo upgrade, and tune.

Yes. From what I see with Hahn, I like them. They were the first company i looked into and i wanted to get some ideas from people that actually know something about this stuff . Iz a newbie haha. My dad owns an auto repair business and I'm hopping i can persuade him to get into this with me. I'll even let him make a sticker to put on it. If he helps me pay for it and put it together. Like that will ever happen . maybe if i pester him.

This thread will give you an idea of what's available. Clear Image just announced prices on their new stuff. Check them out along with Hahn. Also, Dejon and Synapse are worth looking at. For turbo upgrades, might talk to Bald Turbo Freak (BTF racing Inc).

From what I'm seeing here and on the Solstice forum, somewhere about 325 HP or maybe a little more and you'll start needing a clutch eventually.

If you really want 400+ HP, maybe you should seriously consider a rear wheel drive car.

yeah i know but i can buy this car for around 30k fully loaded and the rear wheel equivalent for 35 or better with out the good gas mileage

i love the 2.0z also.

the other car i looked at was the G8 GT. they hot. but id have to be careful in it b/c it's a bigger car. i like the compacts. plus everyone would wanna ride with me if i got a big car. fck that lol.

plus it'd only be driven fast in a straight line.

Welcome man. I have all Hahn and thier parts are great. A lot of vendors on here though so do what YOU want and don't get talked into anything. You know how that goes You WILL have to do a turbo swap for 400HP though. I'm roughly 320WHP and even with all my mods and tune my car is tapped out! I'll need a turbo swap too for those kind of #'s. What clutch did you get? Hahn recommended a Clutchmasters for my car. They put it on thiers. 6 puck

Clutchmasters is the WORST clutch you can buy for these cars

If you're paying 30k for an SS/TC, you're getting bent over and screwed hard by the stealership. I paid just over 22k for mine brand new with 40 miles on it. You can find them for around 19-20k now.

MSRP of a fully loaded Cobalt SS is a little over $25k.

ha. not really. its a custom order. and it's fully loaded. I've managed to get the guys on the lot to get one shipped. it's black. and it's the base model.(he he i don't buy base model, not enough gadgets ) and after taxes it was like 24k and I'm the only one that's driven it.

The one I'm getting is having 2000 dollar custom interior put it in and heated seats installed. and i'm getting them to put on a different body kit..
it's gonna be about 30k ... and you kinda can't talk them down on custom orders.
right after i drive it off it's going right down the road to get a COMPUSTAR alarm/remote start system put in it and the guys that are doing it are going to look at the dimensions of the trunk to make custom fitted speaker boxes that round off over the sides of the trunk where the tire well is.

so. after all that. including the 4000 dollar system and getting all of the stock speakers replaced. its really going to be like 35k... maybe a lil less. i know the alarm/remote start is 850. not bad. considering a good bit of dealers charge that just for remote start. and they don't give a life time warranty to the system or installation. COMPUSTAR rox!!

I buy my cars with some room to grow. and what better than a sports compact. PIMP
