Custom exhaust help
I will put one where the resonator is...and then I will put one where the muffler is.
Steddy, you piece of white trash...stop getting so butt hurt because I disagree with you on some things.
You absolutely annoy the **** out of me with your bullshit on here. If you had 1/1000th the automotive experience or knowledge that I had you wouldn't be asking stupid ass questions like how to build your exhaust setup. Here you are trying to mod this car the good ol redneck fashioned way...remove the cat, change the exhaust, and throw an intake on, but guess what...none of that is going to do **** without a tune. And currently there are guys making perfectly good hp/tq numbers while retaining their emissions controls, with nothing more than a catback and a tune. Again, this is a FWD, why didn't you just get some RWD muscle car if you wanted to rock the 1/4 mile?
Also, there are plenty of people that think they get a free ride from the manufacturers when they mod and **** up. I have seen many people post this position on here and other boards.
I care about this stuff because it is something I enjoy and am passionate about.
When you can come up with something other than calling me a ***** or a tool, I might take you for someone with an IQ over 3.

I've had steddy on my list for some time, but for some reason I liked reading and commenting on his vast stupidity.
Not the case, you can still view people on your blocked list.
And you can go back to ******* your cousin you redneck idiot!

Turbo exhausts are fairly quiet, even straight piped. So go with good 304SS and mandrel bends, resonators take the rasp out of the tone.
On the note about Cats - a properly designed exhaust can use a high flow catalytic converter and lose very very little. Its only when you use the stock cat that you can lose quite a bit, as the stock cat is designed to be cheap, not flow well. Its a personal decision on using a cat or not - that is up to the individual to weigh the options, cost, environmental impact, and legality of doing this. A few people are not going to make a difference as long as the vast majority keep using them.
As for turbos being effective cats, that is pure and simple BS. Catalytic converters do get hot, and need the heat, but it is not the heat alone that is what makes them do what they do. It is a combination of heat and catalysing agents in the converters that do the work. In other words, it is a chemical reaction.
In modern 3 way catalytic converters, there are 2 separate chemical conversions that are done, and the use of the O2 sensor to regulate the air/fuel ratio to keep the correct amount of oxygen in the exhaust.
First reaction:
2NO => N2 + O2 or 2NO2 => N2 + 2O2 (Oxides of Nitrogen, not to be confused with Nitrous oxide, are converted to pure nitrogen and oxygen.) This is usually accomplished by running the hot exhaust over a honeycomb coated with platinum and rhodium. This is also known as the reduction catalyst.
2nd reaction:
2CO + O2 => 2CO2
Unburned Hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide are burned (this can be done to a smaller degree in the heat of the turbo, but is not complete, so you are partially right). This stage typically uses platinum and palladium. This stage is called the oxidation stage.
As you can see, you were partially misinformed about the use of a turbo as a replacement for a catalytic converter.
