Deciding on a few things...

Decided to keep my 09 SS and stick some money into it. Deciding on what tune to get, either trifecta or just the gms1. Trifecta is $350. And you all know that gms1 is 500$+ labor. I can get my dealer to install the gms1 since i used to work there and know all the mechanics. So my question is what route should i go? its bone stock right now, i dont have money for bolt on's + plus a tune at the moment, so i decided to stick with just getting a tune for now. And the trifecta to get it back to stock tune in case something happened is 75$. so thats still not 500$. Any opinions? just trying to see what someone would do. The mod order will probably go 1. Tune 2. (after winter) Downpipe 3. Charge pipe.

Thanks

Agreed, go with trifecta unless you want to keep your warranty.

If you can, get the downpipe and charge pipes before you tune.

Trifecta Stealth tune is undetectable by the Tech2 diagnostic machine. Buy the cable and use your laptop and you can return to stock any time you want and data log and sent it to Trifecta to fine tune and get updates as they become available.

If you get a good trifecta dealer it sometimes is free for stock reflash.

Depends who you talk to. I know my clients are satisfied

I have taken mine to the dealer without reflashing the stealth tune back to stock. The TECH 2 never has detected it, nor have they given me any flack for it.

I'd do your bolt-ons first. You'll have to get a re-tune once you get your bolt-ons if you don't.

U can. Even find someone with hptuners. Trifecta is not always the answer u need to understand the slow reponses and so forth bit they do great most of the time

The only horror stories about the GMS1 are errors due to install. If you are going to keep the car for the long run, get the GSM1 sensors and get the tune on top of it. Granted you can get practically the same results without the sensors , but I personally with a daily driver would not want to push the limits of anything that controls how much air and fuel go to the engine.IMHO

I went the safe route at first and the got the gms1 because at the time i didnt have all the money to go out and buy the bolt ons. But i was amazed with the added power. I could tell a difference. Didn't get a chance to dyno my car prior to the gms1 but you can see my numbers in my sig. I have had the gms1 for about a year now and have had no issues. Maybe since you worked there the mechanics wont care about aftermarket parts. I know the techs at my dealership love when i bring my car in they are always excited to see what ive added since my last stop and love when they have to take my car out for a test drive and they still do all work under warranty. Now that Ive saved up and bought all of the bolt ons i now plan on getting a trifecta tune. I just recommend if you get a CAI wait to install until you get an aftermarket tune.

I can't say that there are not any horror stories about the GMS1. Are there any horror stories on other tunes?? Things happen. Altimate performance in mind? Trifecta or HPTuners. Or the duel tune. Not possitive on how that works, but its been done and is seemingly the best thing out. I have GMS1. No problems here. Did have a misfire once.. guessing on the code. i've gone 13.0 and can squeek a 12.9 on a perfect run. Warrenty is there, but i do want to create a beast like many others have done. The cobalt is a fun and fantastic car. Have a blast. If you dont mind having the possibility of your warrenty being a possible issue then by all means.. get Trifecta from Vince and give BYT a PM as well. You will NOT be dissapointed there. They can retune you at any time. I personally would wait until you have purchased a DP of choice and then get the tune. Perhaps the KN SRI?? Anyway.. get your build on and show us what you do with it! Best wishes. Keep the rubber down and shinny side up!

I got gms1 and will next get combo tune from byt. The sensors from gms1 will help read boost levels better from the combo tune. As far as the downpipe goes, I have heard the sstc dp is not that restrictive?? I think I might stay stock there.
