dejon spring upgrade question
dejon spring upgrade question
so i searched but didnt really find the answers i was trying to find about the dejon BPV spring upgrade. its only ten bucks i think it sounds pretty sweet and my car is stock so im itchin to upgrade. does the upgrade work on the stock BPV? has anyone experienced problems with the spring upgrade? i know a few ppl have said they've been getting a boost surge particularly when starting the car. any help would be greatly appreciated.
I hate to admit it but I had a prob. with it. I installed dejon's intake and spring upgrade the same night. Over the next several days going to work I noticed when I left stoplights going uphills my car acted as if there wasn't any power or kinda like the clutch was slipping, WTF? So after several stop and start tests I took off the spring and the problem vanished. I'm not knocking dejon, their intake is freaking great. Just my experience with it, hope it helps.

ugh.. this so far is a never ending argument and i cannot figure out which side is more right.
some people say its fine and wont hurt, others say it hurts your turbo...
anyone with knowledge of both sides feel like giving an unbias explanation of why it can be ok and harmless and why it can be bad?

i see you have the spring upgrade and a tune...everything ive read has the spring upgrade working better with a tune than without im guessing the added power works better with the stronger spring than the stock numbers.
nope no tune yet, tune is in my list for up next mods. i mean comparing the two springs in the first place, i really didnt even see a huge difference between them. obviously the upgrade is a stronger spring, but i didnt really think it was by all that much.
however those numbers considering the strength of the spring i guess have a bigger effect on the behaviour of the turbo on smaller scales. i basically cant figure out what everyone is bitching about it being either worth it or bad for your car. just wish someone could clear it up with being biased.

yep, theres so many threads about this but no one has really explained with evidence why the spring is bad. i have it on my car and am planning to be tuned within the next month, but i would love to know how i am hurting my car with it.
i am in no way defending that it might not be hurting something, but i cant figure how it could and nothing has been wrong with my car or acting funny since i put it on.

Here's a write-up of what I found anyway: https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/08-10-ss-turbocharged-general-discussion-152/upgraded-bpv-spring-upgrade-experiment-166386/
do the research BEFORE you buy and install. You wont be able to "feel" the damage done to the turbo bearings while your driving it, but 10s of thousands of miles later, when your turbo is a brick, youll think, oh yea that ******* on css.net was right.
Yah Im taking mine out too. Theres really no benefit to it, and the possibility of damaging the turbo is too concerning. Plus, the more I drive it I really dont like the sound it makes at high boost....the "chirp" or whatever. I like a nice whooshing sound better. Ill probably take it out today.

Yup, mine has been sitting in the garage since it was delivered and I noticed that it burned up solenoids on people's turbos.
Knowledge is power. I'm glad I didn't install this!
