disapointing dyno pull

My computer is being gay right now so I will have to post my dyno sheet at a later time....... There was a car show today and they were trying to raise money to for their club so they were doing 3 runs for $50.... It ran 246.78 max hp and 262.43 max tq....... Funny thing though....On my way back I got on it here on my road that no one ever goes down in the middle of nowhere and when I past 4k on the tac It started fluttering. It would still climb in rpms but it would rump and fall......needless to say it was my new spark plugs i installed the other day......I should have known putting the autolite wire plugs in was a bad idea....the car comes with AC Delco wire plugs....its just the brand....so now I am pissed that I didn't gbet full power on the dyno.....not even my water meth was helping because of the shitty plugs.

Im just curious why you swapped the plugs in the first place, was there something wrong with the originals or did you just want to get aftermarket? Cause if it was the latter, Autolite probably isnt the best choice.haha

gapped them to .43

I guess I was expecting more out of it...ha ha
I am about to custom fit hard charge piping and trying to find a down pipe for it. Also going with a flowmaster out back and then get a tune.

Need bigger boost than stock for meth to work good.
Rusted out my conrods on my stang running snow injection though.

Yeah dude! Your boost is blowing out the spark at high RPM's. No wonder it is fluttering. That is a huge gap for turbo's seeing 15lbs of boost.

We were getting 215/245 out of the stockers here in AZ, but that's with our heat and 91 octane.

Any reason you run methanol?

Gap should be .030-.032, and keep the delcos in there. Dont mess with the plugs on Direct Injection please.

You will probably just waste your money on the pipes. Downpipe will be a little cool. Best thing you can do is tune it and then leave it alone. Power for days, and spending very little.

Your desire to modify things is just going to backfire on you with the LNF. Just because other cars need those parts doesn't mean you should go change them on yours.

.035-.030 is the actual spec, but I would agree on keeping it on the lower end of that band.

On a related note: have you had a chance to tune anyone running a meth setup yet?

Especially when you start putting flowmasters on it :picard:

I haven't had a need to tune for meth yet on the 08+ We have messed with intercooler and stuff. But from what I have seen, the LNF likes hotter spark, and you don't want to be putting other stuff in the motor just yet. Best to just leave that part alone, or get an intercooler or intercooler or sprayer.

Reason I like small gap is that these cars make 22psi after tune. gotta have a tighter gap.

I agree on the alky injection. Unless you specifically tune the car for it, need the extra fueling it provides, or are trying to run 87-octane and need the detonation resistance it will probably do nothing for power on an otherwise stock car but could potentially reduce power and cause drivability issues. Depending if you have a progressive controller, the nozzle size, and how much you're injecting that could very well be the cause of your stumbles as it's affecting spark (which might be more noticeable on the different plugs).

AC Delco is not a bad brand. I have many parts from AC Delco on my Turbo Buick.

those numbers are higher than you should have expected! Most people are dynoing as close as makes no difference to 240/260.
