This is my engine on a cold start up, it eventually goes away, but it always does this?

Someone correct me here if Im wrong but this has been discussed before and I believe that is your fuel pump for the direct injection. Does it all the time, its just in Open loop and at 0 vac its louder cause your engine is at like 1600rpms.

Its either the fuel pump or oil pump but I think the oil pump is the suttle tick tick tick noise while the tktktktktktktktktktktktktkktktktktktktktktkt is the fuel pump.

 

maybe i'm not hearing it over the injectors? is it a new sound?

Also, do you know what engine knock is? Because I hear 0 knock.

well its just loud and smacky. I wasn't sure of this was normal. It goes away so I wasn't sure if it was normal.

Mine does the same sound on coldstartup.

 

how long have u had this car? hard to believe u havent heard that sound before, thats the high pressure fuel pump.

mine doesnt sounds quite that loud haha, maybe its the camera.

 

on camera it always sounds louder, camera pics up everything. ever notice how a video of a car on dyno with alot of boost, u cant hear nothing but the boost? cause the cam seems to pic up the loudest sound and amplifies it drowning everything else out.

Yeah my car sounds about the same, it was even louder this weekend up in the mountains. I kinda like it though it sounds different than other cars.

 

next well see a thread about how loud our transmissions are... just accept that your car makes more noise than most mid 80's diesel mercedes-benz's and try to drown it out with the sound of turbo spool
