downpipe with gms1 tune

Just wondering if spending $200 on a mpx catted downpipe is worth it with the gms1 tune. Been dd and cant figure out if i will gain 8-10 hp from it! |I thought on the gms1 the learn down feature is disabled and any mod you add will result in gains. The GM fellow Heinacy stated this on GM tuner source. Also if some one can tell me if there will be hp gains from the k & n sri with gms1!I know there has been discussions on this topic but cant figure out gms claims that any mode added to the lnf with the gms1 tune will net hp and torque gains. If there really no gains to this then it would seem gm lied about their tune. Thanks

If you can get away with having a catless downpipe id say go for it, had mine for 5000 miles now and no CEL (its the MPX too) . The warm up is kinda loud like a Ninja motorcycle but after that its only loud when you get on it. I like my exhaust note and you can tell a difference in the pickup and top end. Only other mod is a K&N drop in on the gms1.
I think learn down is disabled by gms1 but to get tuned is the best way to use the mods potential.

Been wanting to get a K&N sri but that and tuning is what i believe starts the time bomb on our motor/turbo.

I had my Hahn Intake, and Hahn catback before I did my GMS1, but I did my Hahn catted downpipe after the GMS1, and learn down is definatly gone lol. I would recommend it, there is a very large difference on the butt dyno.

This setup was my plan as well.. K&N with a DP after the GMS1 tune.. I don't expect to get the full potential from the upgrades since the GMS1 won't tune for them specifically. I'm actually only considering the K&N right now as I am not sure what the DP will do in terms of boost loss or gain or if it will even have an effect once the tune is in place. I know the DP is the source of alot of power gain initially, I'm thinking of putting the HAHN Catted DP on since I think it will cause the "least" amount of risk for CEL's. From what I've heard, most everyone hasn't had any issues with the K&N on their cars, with or without the GMS1.. and since the Learn down is removed, having the K&N shouldnt pose any issues with the increased flow over the MAF... as for the DP, I don't honestly know what impacts there could be... besides the obvious flow issues and CEL's... I think most everyone would tell you that you might only get 50% or less of the full potential of the upgrades with the GMS1.. but I suspect you will get some... best way to tell in my book is to GMS1 it first, dyno it... and in the K&N... do the dyno again, then the DP... its alot of Dyno runs, but I think it will be a good baseline from which anyone else doing this could work from. ( that's my plan at least! haha should be in the next 3-4months or so)

OMG there is a timebomb in my motor tick tick tick... Not the cause of a blow motor. A good tune and good parts will be ok. A trifecta tune is reasonably conservative and adds a ton of power. If you go get bs parts from autozone then yea you might mess up your motor but other than that, OP, you should be good to go with a SRI and a DP along with a GOOD tune. If your goals are to keep the warranty then GMS1 is good. If you don't care then go trifecta, its a ton of power and a better tune anyways.
