e brake sucks

My e brake blows. I live on an incline and when I engage the e brake the car keeps sliding down. Wondering if this has happened to any one else but this sucks. My brother in law told me to put it in gear it holds a little better but it jerks back if u lean on it. Havn't had time to go to the dealership but this really sucks.

same here. you can adjust it a little by pulling the ebrake cover off and tightening the 10mm nut i believe is the size. helped me out a little. there is a little clip on the bottom side of the handle of the brake u have to push in and it should pop off pretty easily

After your dealer mechanic tightens it enough to work, then your inside pad will wear down to nothing. I speak from experience.

I had the same problem,

As it turns out, i jacked the rear of the car and grab a hold of the wheel and tested each side and my right side was not holding, i could turn the wheel by hand !

I went to the dealer and told them to order a new right rear caliper.

After they installed it, the car holds fine now, you can actually feel the difference when you pull the parking brake.

You should be able to lock your rear wheels when your almost stopped.

it could do what mine did where the actually locking mechanism fell out of place and theres no way to put it back in since its pressed in. the whole e brake assembly isnt too expensive nor is it hard to remove and replace but you might wanna try tightening it first and also jack up the rear and tighten the cables going to each brake

Same thing happened to me after I tightened to nut to the ebrake cable I do believe there right that it's 10mm and it works fine only took a few
mins there's 2 bolts n the back of the center counsel piece & it's all clips for the rest to remove it out the way to work with the e brake cable. Hope this helps

it's just the rear brakes. You need new pads/rotors...something in there. I just got mine replaced at the dealer a week ago and the ebrake is MUCH tighter than it was and holds better.

Do put it in gear....I parked in a steep lot one time and came out seeing my new SS/TC stuck up against a Nissan Armada..shouldn't have trusted the ebrake

My ebrake has been shitty since I got my car. I popped the "lid" off and check out the cables. When I pull my break, it only pulls up on one of the cables till the last 2 or 3 clicks, then barely pulls the other.

What should I do about this?

Always put your car in gear. The parking brake is only meant to assist. After having once forgotten to set my e-brake or put it in gear, because I was too pre-occupied with the two cute girls I was with, it rolled off into a ditch with the alarm ringing all the way... From that day on, I always set the parking brake, even on automatics.

Mine went in 4 times before they fixed it. First was an adjustment, second was another adjustment, Third they replaced the handle, fourth they replaced the rear caliper which seemed to be the culprit. Have a pretty steep driveway and i barely have to engauge it.
