I lmao at the knock on mitsu turbos.

I'm thinking the loose charge pipe had something to do with the turbos getting chewed up so quick. Actually I'm praying that's what it is, I have no idea. I'm buying an oil catch can soon as an added precaution. I honestly wouldn't know what to look for to see if the return/feed lines are having issues.

car is in the shop for the day, they're replacing the map sensors, but go figure the o-rings didn't come in the package so they need to get them from another dealer. I'm hoping this fixes the problems with this thing. So far it doesn't seem like anyone else is placing blame on the sensors themselves so we'll see.

Is there anything else I should have them look at while it's in there? I'm a bit of a ri-tard with cars once I get under the hood. I have been having the intermitten studdering when getting on and off the gas, fluttering really bad one day, and the random surging on occasion.

I'm going to have them hold the ticket because my warrenty is coming up pretty soon so i'm trying not to get f-ed with a huge bill once something finally does break for good.

GMS1 installed by dealer and Zero problems. Nothing but smiles.

Mind you, everything else is stock and I may just keep it that way.

problems I had...

#1 Lower sensor didnt sit flush so took off the excess plastic on the charge pipe also where that vaccum line i think it is connects on the lower charge pipe the connector was little broke but i think thats a recall

#2 Top Sensor didnt line up through the whole so drilled it out and then it fit perfect.

Overall im happy with it all though i did lose to a civic si with a 2.4 crv swap turbo but im getting the K&N today then im done with it but i do reccomend the stage 1 i love it

Probably stupid question does anywhere here a squeek noise from 2nd to 3rd almost sounds like a belt? im pretty sure its not tires?

If you mean the noise when you let off the gas real quick to shift at boost? Normal. It's excess boost pressure blowing past the bypass valve when the throttle body butterfly closes instantly.

A LOT of people worry about that noise. It really doesn't sound like it should be there. Mine sounds like a ?????????????????????? LOUD!! Check my sig. Everything that can make it louder is on there. Check this out. Sounds just like this. And is the same as my reaction the first time I heard it.

Got my car back today, 4th turbo installed. No sign of 5lbs mode, but I have a feeling it will come back soon. I'm just really hoping this turbo holds up.

So what did they say is happening to the turbo? Inquisitive people want to know.

"Internal bearings failing" is what my service writeup/receipt says. It definitely went into 5lbs mode on the way home from a climbing gym. Turbo isn't making any weird noises under acceleration that would indicate the bearing problem again. However it did make the fluttering blow off noise when it was in 5lbs mode.

bump. Anybody have any ideas why GMS1 is having this 5lbs problem? Does having an aftermarket tune prevent this from happening?

The cars are going into limp mode where the ECM has detected an issue and has told the BCS to keep the WG open at all times which limits you to 5-7 psi thus limiting power output. It is a feature the ECM uses to help protect the engine in the event of a major boost leak or sensor failure.

I was referring more to the "issue" which would cause said protective feature to kick in. Seems like a good chance that most people have the same thing causing it.

Question Has anyone been able to get a code when this happens ?

Mine did it today, right after filling up ( the last 2 times it occurred, as a matter of fact, were after a fillup ) , and no wire wiggling or engine restarts would bring it back to normal.

I'll see what it does on the way home, BUT if the dealer could actually catch it in the act & pull a code/codes then perhaps we might be on a way to a permanent solution.

Or, not - who the hell knows.

I believe, and this is only speculation, that my charge pipes being busted/very loose caused my turbos to start turning south. The charge pipe wasn't fixed until during the 3rd turbo, so I'm just now running a turbo with solid charge pipes. I mentioned in my earlier post about my first dealer messing up a TSB and breaking the mounts for the charge pipe.
