F*ck me... p0299 underboost
threw the tune on a week ago. was racing my buddies 911 turbo from harrisburg ~ baltimore. about an hour of racing. first race we got up to about ~160 and car ran fine.
then second race i was at the top of 4th and BOV went off... couldn't boost over 1psi lol....
checked all the camps. they look good. will be doing a boost leak test tomorrow. doubt i will see anything. but what i am curious is that on 14~15psi i can go up to 140 no problem. now when i go to 120 boost cuts out... i tried twice on my way home today, i could not hit 140 without the boost cutting out.
what are your guys' experience on underboost problems?
Looks like P0299 applies to the wastegate.
#09-06-93-004: Intermittent MIL/Check Engine Light On, DTC P0299 or P0234 Set (Adjust Turbocharger Wastegate Actuator) - (Jul 21, 2009)
Subject: Intermittent MIL/Check Engine Light On, DTC P0299 or P0234 Set (Adjust Turbocharger Wastegate Actuator)
Models: 2008-2009 Chevrolet Cobalt, HHR
2008-2009 Pontiac Solstice GXP
2008-2009 Saturn SKY Redline
2008-2009 Opel GT
2008 Daewoo G2X
with Engine RPO LNF and LDK (Europe)
Please Refer to GMVIS
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Condition
Some customers may comment that the SES light is on. Upon inspection, you may find DTC P0299 (Turbocharger Engine Underboost) or P0234 (Turbocharger Engine Overboost) set.
Cause
This condition may be caused by a mis-adjusted wastegate.
Correction
Note: The wastegate adjustment is sometimes a very fine process. When adjusting the wastegate, only small adjustments should be made. Loosen one nut at a time and only adjust the nut one turn at a time; then tighten the other nut against the shaft and test drive to verify. This may have to be performed several times to achieve the desired boost level. To ensure proper adjustment, the vehicle should be at full operating temperature when testing. The vehicle will be very hot and may need to cool between adjustments. Too large of an adjustment can cause repeat DTCs.
Adjust the turbocharger wastegate. Refer to Turbocharger Wastegate Actuator Adjustment in SI.
Troubleshooting Tips for DTC P0299 - Turbocharger Engine Underboost
To increase boost, adjust the nuts (in) towards the actuator; in essence making the shaft shorter.
Troubleshooting Tips for DTC P0234 - Turbocharger Engine Overboost
To reduce boost, adjust the nuts (out) towards the end of the shaft; in essence making the shaft longer.

If desired boost is set too high to fast and underboost is not disabled in the tune it will cause this issue. Also a boost leak but normally you have a p0101 and a rich code bank 1 to go along. Wg rod could have come loose or the boost solenoid could be malfunctioning.

i'm thinking the wg could have came looks and maybe it's not lookse enough at low boost to set off a code.

just did a legit smoke boost leak test... started on one side of charge pipe where turbo is. closed the TB and put the fog machine on it until it started coming out on the side that was open... nothing... no fog...
i'm pretty upset now. lol... i was honestly hoping for a crack in my FMIC or a loose clamp lol... this sucks
