Does anyone know what the factory piping is made out of from where the 3 bolt flange starts all the way back to the muffler. I read something on the window sticker stating stainless, that maybe just the muffler. I do know its 2.5" inches . I did call GM parts department and they told me the price was $1000 for a replacement, they informed me that they didnt know what material it was made out of. Does anyone know?

I'm almost positive it is stainless all the way back...

I say this because I was thinking of getting the Hahn, but couldn't really justify the cost since the stock exhaust is adequate...so I asked around to find out how long my exhaust would last before it rusted out and I was told that it should last for the life of the car since it is stainless...

 

It is stainless, probably T409 or some other low grade.

thanks for the info, i may just stick with this piping and cut the muffler off instead of getting 3" now
