Faster in hot weather?!?!

Hi guys. I live in Canada and these days it's damn cold out there (were talking about temperatures below -10 Celcius... :P). I really do feel the car is slower despite the colder air, which is not right for a turbo car. I know about the learn feature but now i think the car definatly doesnt make the 260hp it's supposed to make.

What do you guys think? Should I go to the dealer or something? BTW the car only has 400 miles.

There's been some people mentioning something similar that was mileage related, but not necessarily temperature related. Some people have been talking about feeling like it lost some power for a while and then it would come back after a while. It may be an engine break-in program inside the ECM that's keeping things tame and protecting it until it's broken in and then unlocks everything once you get past the break-in period.

Nothing positively factual has come from this yet though, but many people have been reporting it. I noticed it on mine too though come to think of it.

As far as the temperature, I haven't heard anything about that. I heard that from some MS3 guys, but no Cobalt owners.

yeah its just breakin in. give it till prolly after ur first oil change (3k) for it to break in. if still like that. send it back in

plus withthe LNF you dont realize it when ur going fast. Rissa was going almost 70 down the street when i was in the car with her. and it felt like 35 40 tops.

Well in colder weather, your making less boost... In hotter more boost....

Maybe you just feel the kick of the turbo a bit more

If the car only has 400 miles, how do you know it feels slower? Did you ever drive it when it was warm? Have you only put 400 miles on it since August/September when it was warm?

And...why are you asking about how fast it feels at 400 miles? Ever heard of breaking the car in?

TrevMo, I felt a pretty big difference between 10celcius and -10 (car is slower at -10 ). The temperature fluctuates a lot here.

Talking about the break in period: well i respect my car and i only did a couple of third gear pulls. Maybe i'm the only one here to think that this car is not that fast. Not to say i'm disappointed about my purchase, but after all I read about it, I was expecting a lot. Maybe the gearing is to blame.

My question right now is: If there's a break-in period programmed in the ECU, why did the magazines were able to get 13,x @ 100+ mph in the quarter in SSs that had no more than 300 miles on them??

LSj motors compared to LNF motors. 2 different motors. cold air is thinner? ur in canada? mayb the car is different. have it dynoed.

start modding.

its 260 HP stock. its not bad for what u pay.

with certain mods, you can top 300 easy. wich isnt bad man

well, that, and when it's cold, i mean REALLY cold, that's not good for the car either. once you drop below about 50 degrees, most cars get slower.

how do cars get slower when below 50 degrees every car i had besides this one noticeably faster because the air is more dense and there for can use more furl while keeping a 14.7:1 ratio of air fuel
