Yeah, we had talked about it before I bought my house and at the time, it wasn't in the cards. Things changed thankfully

The turbo is on and it's ridiculous how much louder the car is overall. The BPV is badass sounding too!

My only issue is the rear coolant banjo is sandwiched right up against the wastegate support arm and it's impossible to get it tight...

Anyone have any ideas? I tried using the box end of a wrench - no dice. I tried a decently thin walled socket and still no luck. I'm literally at a loss for how I can get it 100% tight due to the tight space constraints. Right now, the car is slowly dripping coolant.

 

Clock the center section of the turbo maybe?

 

Not sure how much good this will do me, to be honest? I'm going to stop by harbor freight later today and see if they have anything flare end wrenches or thin wall sockets.

Other than this minor issue, the turbo is incredibly responsive and it's made the exhaust so much louder!

 

Just got my K04R the other day that I ordered on black Friday...

 

Wow. When I ordered mine a year ago on Black Friday I received it in late March and I thought that was bad.

Hey guys, just looking for a little advice here.

There's a guy near me selling a K04R for $800. It has the high boost actuator and high temp coating. In the ad he says it's got 7000km on it and no shaft play. Says reason for selling is upgrading to bigger turbo.

Does this sound like a yes or no? I'm admittedly uneducated when it comes to stuff like so any possible help would be appreciated.

Well it's Canada so he probably did pay more. If you can get it for $700 I'd say that's not a bad deal. Then possibly sell yours for a couple hundred if it's still good. Wouldn't pay $800. I got mine 2 years ago (and sold it later) for around $525 without the $50 actuator and it's was coated, on Black Friday, but that also included me sending I a good core.

 

Yeah I paged the 500+ for BF and I sent my core but I was told it was no good so yeah paid full price for it. Now that you mentioned that it makes sense about the Canada thing . I will say if you don't have meth or E it's not really worth it imo

 

I would 2nd this. If all you have is 91, it's not worth it. I have a upgraded turbo between the stocker and r and with e47 it's a lot of fun. With regular gas, not a lot different than stock.

 

Yeah 91 is my only option around here, guess I won't bother then. No big deal. Just figured I'd ask since I saw the listing.

Friend ran a k04r on 91 and I was pulling him every time on stock turbo. Not worth it at all unless you have better gas or alternative (meth)

Same tuner? I have the KO4+ and on 91 I kept up with a stock turbo on e85, both tunes were for power not safety.

If he's using the old cobaltss.net app that might be it, I use the Garage Talk app (some of the time) and don't seem to have issues with my posts showing.

 

I use the old app and it always crashes, I'll look into that app thanks.


And no, I am term2 tuned and friend on k04r was kmo tuned. He's on meth now and car is much faster than me.

 

If I upgrade turbos I'll likely get kmo or area47 to tune me. Term is hard to get into contact with these days.

 

If he's using that app that could be the cause for sure, kmo43 has been great to get in contact with for sure
