fuel pump letting go...?

So I finally got all my parts this past weekend got my car retuned and now i have two issues one the clutch wont last long , thats fine i get it but the second issue is my fuel pump started making a little louder of a sound then it normally does if i have read everything right we have two fuel pump's in our car so this would be the front making the sound.

So the description of the sound is like a loud clicking sound but once the car has been idling for a minute or if i rev it up a little it goes away.. then goes back to sounding normal it will also do it sometimes when i come to a stop at lights. so the reason why i think its on its way out is I decided to datalog my car to see if vince can see anything going on then i went WOT in second fell flat on its face then bogged out then i did it again to see if would do it again and it did worst so anyhow has anyone had this issue before ?? also i didnt throw any CEL so I have no were to start from.

Anything advice helps thanks

In HPTuners I know you can see rail pressure and I figure if the hpfp was cutting out it would affect that. Just a guess tho I'm still learning.

What are you logging with, and like frogtofall asked, what does your rail pressure look like? If you are running an eblend you should be sitting around 2100psi wot

I don't think its from the head I went with scope and listened to the noise and it comes from the hpfp, I'm data logging with trifecta so unfortunetly I have to send it to vince but my buddy has an hptuner that I can prob ask to datalog with, but I am not running an e blend, wangspeed if it was coming from the head is there anything I should be looking for ?

I think he's probably refering to valvetrain noise.... ie, rocker arm/lash adjuster ticking

Either way, get your buddy's hptuner and get a decent log to check out for yourself. At the very very least check your rail pressure, injector pulse width, timing advance, kr, and misfire on all cylinders at wot and cruising just to narrow down if it actually is your hpfp, misfire, or big time kr causing it to fall on its face.

Alright sounds good ill do it after work today, but if there is a rocker arm or lash adjuster clicking would it be causing damage or is it just hjust something making a sound ? On my way to work I did three full pulls so second third forth WOT and it didn't do it again now I'm confused

You very well might not have any issues with the valvetrain at all, but there have been a few cases where a lash adjuster was completely busted and aside from a noticable ticking noise there was no real power loss.

I don't mean to keep speaking for him, but I think wangspeed was just trying to give a suggestion to look further into for the ticking. None the less, get a solid log and check it out. Post up a screenshot on here if you have any questions about what you're looking at.

Alright sounds good I will do that for sure, thanks. I'm guessing the datalog will show if there is a lash adjuster busted or what ever it might be?

The datalog more than likely won't really tell you much about a lash adjuster issue actually unless you start seeing some serious cylinder air mass drop, but even with that you would need to know what you're looking at to even tell the difference anyways.

It's all just speculation at this point anyways so I wouldn't cling too tightly to one thing or another at this point until you can get a solid log or find a mechanical issue. Have you sent off a log to Vince with the issue occuring?

I tryd too yesterday but my labtop dad in the middle of my datalog so I'm going to get a new one after work send it to vince and hopefully he can see something I also forgot to mention I haven't sent him a log since I did my maf relocate so that could possibly be part of the issue it was also really damp out yesterday on and off rain with cold weather so who knows

lol.... yes that is a pretty important missing piece of the story here. Send him a log, get the car dialed in and see how things are from there. Don't be satisfied with just 1 tune update btw. After he sends you an update, record another log and send it back to him and repeat the process until he's sick of you and tells you to go away.

Then make one more and send it to him anyways!

The HPFP is mechanical and driven off the cams. It is highly unlikely that there is a problem with it, unless there is a leak.

There is no leak , but can you point me into a direction to check out the valve train? Or the lash adjusters?

Pop the valve cover off and look for lash adjusters have are loose. You'll know, because they'll just be randomly floating around in the valvetrain

It's on my todo list, but it's more likely to happen if you increase the rev limiter, or mis-shift.

You can probably get away with re-use. Not sure if they advise adding sealant, but probably not. If you have a go in a 2nd time to replace some of the lash adjusters, it's probably worth the few bucks to replace the gaskets.
