Gm compression specs

Ok so I took my car in today and while I was at it I got the service guy to look up what compression our cars should have on test results and my jaw dropped. I read it right off his computer, as long as they are within 70 percent, yes I said 70 but no lower than 105 psi they are within spec. It said normal is between 105 and 150 psi. So just wow on that one. But said if 3 cylinders would be like 150 and one would be 120 then they would worry.

i typically seen them at least 180. when i did mine i had 200 across the board. Alot of people do not perform them right either though so results will vary. The main thing is the difference between cylinders. thats what u wana watch for

Typically on the LNF, a lot of us have seen anywhere from 145 to 165. It all depends on the gauge and how you do it. On wet tests, I'd see as high as 180.

Like said, it's the difference between the cylinders that really matters (unless you're getting under I'd say 120 then that cylinder has a problem). The 70% between cylinders is way to much. 85% is the most I'd even consider to be acceptable and even that might be too much of a difference between them.

Could also be the head, which in my case probably is causing the lower readings. My lowest is 130

And that was on 3 of them. But he is doing a retest

well they did a compression test on my car and i think ill be tossing my tester cause they got 150 on one and 155 on the other 3, big diff from what i got. lol oil pressure is in spec and is most likly my sending unit is done. and since the tick comes and goes he said wait till its more constant then take it to a diff dealer. lol since the tick is gone for the moment i guess im all good. get a new oil pressure gauge and try to move it to the front on the motor so it doesnt get fried by all the heat from the turbo, im sure that busted it.

Or you could just throw that oil pressure gauge away. They're useless.
