Help please! Terrible wobble.. Then went away..

So I've had a wobble at high speeds, a slight wobble but when I would wot thru the gears it got worse and you felt it in your feet.. I gigured it was my tires cause theyre on the bald Side.. Well today i leave work, I feel the wobble at low speeds, you felt it in your feet not much in the steering wheel.

I got onto the highway, and the wobble was EXTREMELEY strong, was doing 45-60mph and it felt like I was driving on square wheels! Again I felt it in my feet terribly, on the floor board... When I would accelerate it would get worse... Did it in all gears, now what I don't get is when I engage the clutch, it went away , and rolled fine.. Igo to the gas station, when I pull out the wobble isn't there... I'm lost I'm gonna look under tr car tomorrow to see if I see anything obvious.

Help would be appreciated !

could be your axles, make sure your lugs are tight. check all bolts that hold the struts, control arms, and hubs.

If your tires are almost bald I would suspect a bulge in one or more of the tires. Particularly since it does it at all speeds and gears. But the coming and going doesn't match up. So maybe it is something else.

What kind of tires are they? I developed a bulge once with some BFG SuperSport All seasons.

All those seem unlikely since he said goes away when presses the clutch in... Im in for some logical responses. Free bump

is it rpm dependent or speed dependent?

I love the way Cobalt owners deal with problems.

Car is wobbling and shaking .....drive faster.
You hear something knocking in the engine....... give it more gas
You're boosting 27psi randomly..... do it over and over

Not directed at OP. It's just funny.

.... Ur right in a way. But in order to diagnose a problem u sortof have to replicate it and find out when it doesnt happen, if its happening while braking, while accelerating, while boosting, blah blah. I agree u shouldnt continue to beat te **** out of the car but most of the time it saves a butt load of time and it can narrow it down a bit to replicate it and test a few things

Why not check the easiest thing first, is there dirt in ur rims that u possibly washed and missed a spot, that causes 99.9 percent of the wobbles iv had at Higher speeds

I sped up slowed down to see what it does at different speeds, not to be a jerk in that way lol.. Sumitomo htrz all seasons are on it, kinda Balt but since it comes and goes I'm no leaning towards tires.. I feel it does it under load more I could be wrong tho. Got an alignment about a week ago.. I'm kinda leaning towards the trans.. I hope not is it even possible it's something in the trans?

Honestly, it sounds like you're just guessing and not getting anywhere. Just take it in to get it diagnosed, or find a knowledgeable individual to diagnose. Have you ever thought it could be a bent rim?

Who thinks it could be tires? That's what I'm leaning towards for the most part.

Shaking is almost always tires, usually due to a separated belt. It can come and go with heat/cooling. You said it stops shaking once you press the clutch in, though, so that points toward something else. Pointing a what, I don't know. With the clutch in, your axles are still rotating. The only thing it could point to is the clutch/flywheel.

Sounds like you need to buy tires, anyway, so go buy some and find out.

since it goes away when clutching i'd say that rules out anything thats wheel/tire related.... if ur right and it GOES COMPLETELY AWAY when u clutch then its going to be something drivetrain wise. such as clutch or flywheel. if u just THINK it goes away when u clutch then it could be almost anything.

And even f it was flywheel /clutch related why would it only do it certain times?

Well to be honest.. Its possible u may have just misdiagnosed it. From my experience. A tire balance issue will only happen at certain speeds (the same with mud being stuck on the tire). If its a brake issue u'll definitely notice it more while braking. If the front rotors r warped, ull feel a shake in the sterring wheel while braking. If it's the rear rotors that r warped then u'll frel it in ur butt while braking. When i diag. Rotors, i go on the highway and heat them up first. This causes the shake to be much more noticable. If its a tire having an issue such as a belt, then i think u'd feel it pretty much all the time. Go from there. If its anything more serious then u'll have to put a little more effort into it

your tires are out of balance going through the same thing right now with bald tires happens every time I get to the no tread level. The reason they are out of balance is they balanced the tires new you have changed the rotational mass a pretty good amount now the tires are no longer balanced for the current weight
