Hesitation when at WOT????

I have a 09 Cobalt SS when i go full throtle from 2nd gear or third gear and as soon as full boost kicks in as im accelerating the car feels like it gains and looses power almost like a jerking feeling??

Has anyone had this problem? is this normal? Car only has 900 miles on it

I'd guess it's the learn-down limiting overall torque; not sure but I believe this happens more often when you're low mileage. I was pretty easy on mine for the 1st couple thousand-when I did get on it never experienced any "jerkyness" though?

yeah mine does it in both, but not first gear.

If i go from a dead stop and run the car it doesnt do it but from a roll it does???

mine will hook well and when full boost kicks in at 1st gear the tires break loose and then i chirp in 2nd gear in my Balt.

do any of you guys have bolt-ons or its stock? If you have bolt-on's take them off - your motor needs to "break-in" - rule of thumb - at the first 1000 miles change your factory oil/filter, this removes any residue from the factory {flakes/grease/grime/dust}, then after other 1000 miles change it again "removes more residue", after the 3rd time your oil should be "clean from residue" when its been changed, then you can install your toys and get a tune.. when you do this, your motor will be very happy!!

after following these instructions - i never had any motor problems with any of my cars in 20 years..

what causing this "jerking or lag", is the motor breaking in.. it's the ecm "learning".. after 4000/5000 miles it goes away.. normal..

Is it pulling timing? Mine does it when I roll in to it in second gear from 3500 rpm. RPD shows 6 degrees kr then backs off to 2 degrees. I have only done this twice due to low miles (im little over 200 miles, but have never stabbed it since I got it, lol). Curiosity kills some times Im hoping that the KR issue will go away after a few more miles get put on.

The stock timing curves will have KR in the midrange RPM area under load even on 93 octane.

I have about 15000 and still experience exactly what the op describes. I have gauges to monitor everything and the culprit is knock retard. Only way around it is to tune it, or not go wot, but then again I still get it when I feather into the power. Hope this helps

I work for the company, and im floored that they let a vehicle go in to production with these symptoms. When we test the engines at work, we mask alot of this stuff out due to wanting these things to granade (well not grenade, but atleast find issues with them). They are frickin awsome power plants thats for sure! Thats why I went out and bought one. And im glad I did! This is my second post but I have done a bunch of reading up on the site and this site has been very helpful with "Real world" issues.

Once again, LNF FTW!

Hmmm interesting... even with traction control off, it seems like i still cant get the tires to break loose... would esc have anything to possiably do with that? how do u turn esc off as opposed to tcs? could esc cause timing to be pulled?

You hit the nail on the head with that one! I shut it off and rolled in to it in second at about 3k, and NO KR (At this point, it would pull about 6 degrees)! Man this thing feels like a totally different car!
