hks bov question
lol im such a jackass...im so confused....i just ordered my dejon piping the 3 pc set with the hks and recirculation kit....so is it a 50/50 chance of working properly or do i deff need a tune or relocate?
no if your recirculating you more then likely wont need to relocate the maf. however your probablly going to need a tune. i just dont understand why people recirculate a atmospheric bov unless they are making big power and have a very finicy car that doesnt like atmospheric bovs.. you can hear the bpv just fine with an intake though.
LOL old thread back to life... mgennass
on using the search button rather than starting a new thread... If you want to install the BOV either recirculting or atmosphere venting... you still need a BPV block off plate also (get a good one cuz a cheap one that uses the stock diaphragm internals can cause turbo flutter, treadstone makes a really good one, click the link in my sig to find it under the cobalt turbo kits).
now you install the charge pipes, thats not that hard... so I won't walk you through that but after that, you need to take the intake off of the turbo (the extra room is nice), next to that that is the stock BPV (its a tan/light brownish plastic cap with hex bolts in it). Then put the BPV block off plate in. When you get the BPV out go ahead and remove the black vacuum line (all of the **** inside is gonna fall out so be ready, the spring and diaphragm are gonna hit you in the eye like a shot of *** on a hooker). Take that line you just removed and put it on the new BOV and it should work just fine. If you are doing a recirculation line for the new BOV you have to take the line and put it where the stock line goes into the intake. If it were me, just my opinion here, get an oil catch can and remove the PCV (positive Crankcase Vent) line, install it into the oil catch can and when you run the oil catch can to the intake (again, should go where the PCV hooked in originally) you can just use a 'T' fitting and put both rubber hoses into the right spot. As far as tuning, if you are recirculating you probably aren't gonna need one, you are venting air back into the same location as stock. But some of these cars are wierd and require tunes for every little thing.
If you want to skip all that hard work... and you're never going to go bigger turbo, return the bov and upper cp to Dejon and have them send you a normal upper cp... then go buy a forge bpv to put in the turbo in place of the stock bpv... its louder and it definitely does not need a tune.
I still recommend the oil catch can... That is my next mod for sure.
This is where the block off plate resides... obviously that isn't the stock bpv cover, but more of a location shot so you know where your looking.
