HKS SSQV Opinions??

So.. i just got the knock off version of this

Amazon.com: HKS (71008-AK001) Super SQV4 Sequential Blow Off Valve Kit: Automotive Amazon.com: HKS (71008-AK001) Super SQV4 Sequential Blow Off Valve Kit: Automotive

... for free.

Ive done some minor research and found that I need to get at least a hotside charge pipe that has the HKS flange, or I could just buy the flange and weld it to the ZZP pipe. If I was to do it, id want to get both sides of the piping.

I found that Dejon has a good pipe for the hotside at least, but I had a tough time finding much else on the subject.

Was just wondering what you guys think I should do... aside from obviously not installing it.

Thanks!

Best bet is to get zzp pipe and weld flange on it. I use a knock off bov on my buggy and it works well. Doesn't leak. It's hit and miss with knockoffs. I did have to take it apart and take the small spring out, there is a big and small, for it to open how I wanted.

get both sides piping with a MAF relocate on the bottom and get a reputable tuner tune it. technically you can get any brand and just weld a flange on it

Alright thanks for the tips!

Its not required to tune or is it? Cause I have lots of difficulty finding a tuner somewhat close to my location. Never been able to a in contact with SSKev?

if you go atmospheric with a maf relocated YOU NEED TO TUNE. if you recirculate you do not need to.

i put the hks bov on my car last weekend.. You will need to have it tuned due to the maf location. If you don't have it tuned your car will not run right.

HKS bov sound is something ive wanted since I was a kid! I remember the first time hearing a Supra with one I went nuts.

That being said, guys that are running them, how is there a negative difference in performance losing that recirculated air? And assuming you spend about $300 to make it work, is it worth it? Not like it its easy to go back if so.

You either spend the money in a maf relocate or you spend money on the recirculation. The negative effect to vta is your opening a closed system

Cost more then $300 to get it done.. time you buy the upper charge pipe.. or have a flange welded on... buy the zzp lower pipe.... tune... and bov. You are looking close to $1000...

But for me the sound was worth it... performance wise I see no different

I already have ZZP pipes, so Id be like $250 for the BOV, $30 flange. have a friend weld it in, not to mention the horrific time getting the lower cp out because im assuming you have to remove lower CP to get the maf in/out. that was a terrible install and I really don't feel like doing that again. And then ive got a to time a retune with it as well, pay a tuner for the gas ect.

So, my question is, how much louder is a SSQV than the stock BPV with an intake or the Forge BPV? (I have a forge bpv but haven't installed it yet, I just got a louder exhaust and want my bpv/bov a little louder now)

Ssqv is very loud... There are some videos out there of it on a cobalt. But it is better in person... On the maf on the lower pipe. It Will go in without taking the lower pipe out. It takes two people. lay under the car and pull the pipe towards the rear and it gave my friend enough room to put the maf in from the top

So whats the deal with the cheap ones that look authentic? I don't care about "spotting a fake"....Do they work? Do they last?

^^ haha! Not only that, it was a $40 ebay n1 muffler bought in 2009, sat in the truck of a 280Z that's since rotted away. Muffler was brown and yellow. Surprisingly, in seconds with a scotch pad looked brand new, not idea what that sort of time does to the inside of a muffler but its obvious I guess. NLS'ing blew the packing in 1 day, now its just a pinch quieter than a muffler delete. I still like it though.

They are hit or miss. You could buy 1 and be lucky, or you could buy 4 and still not have a good one.

I bought a Synapse for $100 shipped. Was a good deal for a good product.

Get the real one.. you won't be sorry. Also the fake ones don't sound good and are most likely to fail. I will post pics of my setup later today
