I have never heard anything bad about BYT's tunes. ive heard of ppl driving all the way from maine to delaware to have nick tune their balts in stroudsburg PA. you beat the **** out of your car, something will break. its not invinceable, its not a toy. its a machine. use it hard and it will break down. Down the road when im ready for a tune im definetly goin to BYT. plus im only 35-45mins away from his shop haha

Cmiller ran 11.9 @ 118 without E85 in the car, so yes it's very possible to go even faster still with the right driver.

yes i was on a 60%mix at the time. E helps but not as much as people may think. I see most .5 sec faster on my 60-100s, which is quite a bit for just a different gas and a tune though.

You picked up .5 seconds in just 1 gear... that is pretty substantial from just filling up differently

We need more to try it. With e85 I see it very easy to hit 11's with slicks.

But Ill entertain the thread with the actual story here. And the other people that have tuned your car and seen what I saw, please speak up as well this go round.

To start, when you came and popped your hood it was soaked in oil, EVERYTHING was soaked in oil. In fact, I sopped up a puddle of it on your valve cover even. You claimed "It's from the BOV, don't worry about it". HUH?!? That makes no sense. You then go on to laugh about how you beat the living **** out of your car and your Dad or Uncle (I honestly forget which it was now) builds race engines so you planned on driving the pants off of it and then having one of them build you a motor.

You also asked for an extremely aggressive tune on your car and wanted really high boost, 30psi, which I said then I wouldn't do but I would go as high as 25. I obliged going by your plans on building the motor in the future.

After our initial discussion I installed the parts you wanted installed and then checked over the car quickly after noting all of the oil. We also found your Breather line Check Valve was in BACKWARDS.. I did a Comp Test on your motor even because I was worried and said 1 cylinder is down about 5psi compared to the rest. May or may not be anything to worry about but just something I noted. I stated at this point I was hesitant to tune your car, I don't want to be held responsible when this thing blows. You stated right then and there "I wouldn't blame you, I beat my car and drive it hard! *laughing goes here*"

We load up my base tune that I always start with and I told him to drive easy and normal so we can get some cruise data and then we will try a SHORT pull to see where the boost was at (I did raise the DAL column a bit to make 25psi, only difference from what I normally start with). Within 2 minutes of driving the car I ask him to do a short burst in 3rd to see where the boost comes to, it comes up to just about 26 so I tell him OK let off, we'll drop it down a lil bit. (again, he wanted 25psi and an aggressive tune!) Right after saying that, he drops to 2nd and does a pull thru 2nd NLS'd to 3rd and keeps pulling. I said ok, or we'll just do a pull now.. lol..

We then pull over so I can make some adjustments and I told him something smells and my eyes are stinging, wtf.. (it's night time btw) There's a LOT of smoke.. The car was still running OK but def sounded a lil off now. I told him let's just go back to my house and check it out please. We're a block away from my place.. He pulls off the side street and rips it yet again, I even said, what are you doing??!?! "I wanted to see if it will clear out" (note the quotes). Then he starts panic;ing and immediately blaming me, the tune blew my engine etc.. I told him that is just NOT possible. While the boost was a lil higher then he wanted, the car was still set rich and with barely over stock timing as well! I've ran out to 30psi for 10,000 miles on my car without an issue, I even tracked it regularly like that.

We get back to my place and check the Comp yet again, the cylinder that was low is now quite low and blowing oil. I told him to take it easy and limp it home. He was even laughing with me saying, "well, looks like I will build it right away now lol"

He had my tune on the car for maybe 10 minutes and maybe 5 miles of driving.. I then talked to other people that had tuned his car for him previously (His car had been tuned for quite awhile, long before coming to me, this was NOT a stock car) and they told me they had a similar experience with him. They also backed up what he had said about him beating the living **** out of his car.

As for the PM's and not answering them, that is a FLAT OUT LIE now.. You contacted me when the motor was back together and I told you to let me know what dates are good and we can check the tune out. He didn't contact me back. The BWW meet was coming up and he was on the list to come. He then contacted me again and I told him I will be at that meet and I will gladly check it out for him there. He didn't come to the meet or contact me again after that.

We never got to fully dial in your tune on your car since we barely drove it that day. The fact that you went out and continued to have your fun in it is not my problem. You know the tune needed to be adjusted and you should know after changing all kinds of parts that it really should be checked out before going hog wild in the car. Im sorry you are having bad luck but there's no need to insult myself because of your lack of thought or care for your own car. Yes, I work out of my house. I am however an official business and we are moving to an actual shop in the next couple months. Not sure what that proves.. There's plenty of great tuners out there that work from their home and don't even own a business.

Since this incident happened last year and you tried to hang it on me last time, I have since started making people fill out a basic form. It states your mods and car's condition. It has a spot where I can note things like "Qt of oil in the valve cover recess had to be soaked up and Breather check valve backwards AND beats car to death" and then we both sign off on it. So I thank you for being my learning experience at least..
Ha Ha Well said

Mines getting a new Spec stage 3 Clutch , plate and flywheel, new trans, upgraded slave (the black one) new pipe and bleeder and Ill keep the old trans for a spare. Dealer is taking care of the labor. Not sure what happened to the old one. Pedal went to the floor and stayed. Put a new clutch master cylinder and ZZP rod in but that wasnt the problem.

The fact that this stayed at 3 pages shows you the BYT has 99.9% satisfied customers on this site.

I think Nick's just having a bad Karma day.. Cracks his radiator, then this thread.

Anyway, Yo don't build a reputation like what BYT has unless you are legitimate and a true credit to the community, even if he won't share his secrets on the HPT boards

So I guess he wasn't racing you then. The cars trap at like 126 on a bad day. LMFAO.

The cars have also gone high 10's, BONE STOCK. As in stock tires, stock everything. So you may have beaten a C6 Z06 in a race if someone's grandmother happened to take it out for the day and missed 2nd and 3rd gear, then lifted for a couple seconds after the shift to fourth, but it isn't something I would go around bragging about on the internet. And another thing, in your kill list it also says "2010 5.0 Slowstang". The 5.0 came back in '11, so congrats on beating a high 13 second car in your modded Cobalt.

wow man, take a deep breath..

just because someone has a fast car, doesn't always mean they know how to drive it.... just sayin.. I'm not saying you're wrong with the number's you're throwing out there or that a cobalt SHOULD have out ran a Z06 by any means, but if the kid says he beat a Z06.. then so be it.. maybe he did, maybe he didn't, but more importantly.. who the hell cares?

He's happy with his car, and he was probably just as shocked as anyone to have won that little race..

I just find it amusing when people post "kills" on the internet. If I drive down the road in my car and pass a new 5.0 Mustang on the highway I wouldn't come to the conclusion I "beat him in a race." Nothing wrong with enjoying the car, I own one.
