HP Tuners - Milage?

Is there anyway to use HP Tuners on my 09SS to give me better milage, then have a switch in the car I can flip that would change the boost pressures and engine settings? I was wondering because as the price as gas goes up, it would be nice to turn the boost down, get better milage, then turn it back up when I need to get someplace in a hurry. So any help would be nice.

swap ecus? Im sure there is a way to wire both ecus in the car and run power on a switch to them to switch when the cars off but its prob more trouble then its worth.

You used to be able to do that with a electronic boost controller I believe. Have a low setting at say 8psi and a hi setting at like 20psi. But I dont think u can with this car due to the ecu controlling the boost. Might be wrong tho

I'd ask Vince about this actually. He's working on a switchable double tune setup that you can switch on the fly. It's supposed to be a stage kit equivalent tune and then up to a crazy tune when activated, but I'm like you and would like to have a gas mileage tune and crazy tune combo instead.

The only thing about turning down the boost is that the engine is lower compression (being designed for use with a turbo) and may not react how we're thinking it will to lowering the boost. For instance, it may lower the power output to the point that you're on the gas longer to get up to speed and therefore negate the gas saving advantage you're looking for.

This maybe true. Although I have noticed that at part throttle accleration im only pushing about 5-6psi and its more than enough to get up to speed easily

Yeah. I've also noticed that between 3-5psi it puts outs a really nice exhaust note too.

I thought all cars came with a switch to give you better mileage, it's called a gas pedal...

Modify the light load area of the tables for economy and the high load areas for performance. Mine switch over at over 70% throttle and >100% load for the full tilt boogie.

I have cam settings in the lower load areas that increase mileage but performence on throttle tip in suffers.
