This, I had to work less hours last semester due to school scheduling, it sucked, I had virtually no spending money. If you can, try to schedule your classes closer together so you can work more often. Sometimes what's best for you is the exact opposite of what you want.

It's not hard to save money as a college student. Your just in a SHITTY job. Get a new JOB. I worked full time at Sears in the Tire Department making 35K and took 17hrs of School each semester. I had a car and drank retarded amounts of Alcohol with time to boink some chicks. I went to University of Iowa!!!!! GO HAWKEYES!!!

So I just hear "I'm lazy, I can't focus, school is hard." Stop complaining and do something about it.

I remember the days making payments back in college days. Life was a b*tch back then, but simple before this economy went to ***** and working 40+ a week every summer. Paid $287 with %6.9 for my 07 SS/SC making about $600 every two weeks. Both going to work and school fulltime. I can understand where you are coming from. Paid my father the insurance and part of the tution every month. But now, I drive a 09 Cobalt SS/TC with 0% interests after trade up, $308 a month. If it wasn't for the 0% interest rate making straight principal payments, then I would still have my 07 SS/SC Laser Blue Metallic and finish paying it off this year and do more major mods. Damn.... But, I'm happy with what I got and payments are quicker than paying interests every month. I understand where you are coming from.

I'm joining this a little late, but I pay $280 a month for my SS/TC and I bought it for $15,200. I don't get how you guys are paying more than me and my interest rate is at 9.5% 60 months. It doesn't really make sense lol.

Anyway i was about to get a good driver discount, but because of my speeding ticket it's gone. i pay $232 a month. But I switch insurance companies every year to get the best rate. So we'll see what happens next year.

I plan on refinancing here at the beginning of next year.

Yeah put the insurance under your dads name, good idea. Get into an accident and you **** his record and get denied coverage on the accident and have to pay out of pocket.

Just wait until you're done school. I started saving for my 2010 TC when I just graduated high school at 17. Was in debt, couldn't get a job for two winters (slow economy) and finally bought it last September after working my ass off doing road construction all summer ($11,000 down). 20 now, pay 253$ car payment and 497$ in insurance with one ticket and my job is good enough that I still have more money in the bank after every month and my earnings are most likely about to double at least. You just have to be patient. I drove a shitty 1990 Prelude for two years before I got the TC. I know it's hard, but you have to make sacrifices. Not everything has to be done right now.

man u should be happy to have that car without a car payment. I'm 20 years old. i have worked at sears going on 3 years and 2 months now and i'm still only making $7.75/hr because of this economy and with gas prices skyrocketing it's only going to get worse. I'm lucky to have a part time job working at my dads work making 10.50/hr 1 or 2 days a week so that helps bring in an extra 1-300/mo more, plus if i sell well at sears i make an extra 10% on extended warranty's, but the only money i can guarentee myself each month is my 1000 from my hourly wage paychecks from sears. by the time i pay all my bills for the month i've spend 650/1000. that only leaves me with 350. to take into consideration of having a girlfriend, gas being well over $4 a gallon, general maintinance and having money for food and a life it's just not worth strapping down to have an even nicer cobalt. save what you can make and be happy with what you have and not having a car payment. my car payment is 245/mo and ins. is 165/mo. thats 410 of my 1000 just to keep the car in my driveway, not even to keep it driving. Think about it.

you put in a fat down payment if your getting 280 a month with that term and interest rate. 0 down puts you at over 319 a month...

1st depends on the cost of.the car and how much you have to put down. Then the credit comes into play which can also drastically change ur.monthly payment. My insurance with full coverage is $120/month for my 09 SS TC I got a couple weeks ago. Funny I pay less for my Trans Am. After my trade and and cash I got a 4yr for $280 at 9.9 since my credit score is 637. Just look around mine had 19k so it was more than some of the others I saw but.it is a cpo which means it comes with a full warranty which makes it more expensive to buy but u get piece of mind if it.breaks knowing you have a bumper to bumper and powertrain warranty. Lots of things to think about when getting a car. If you plan to mod the hell out.of it get a cheaper one without the warranty since you will void it with something as simple as a tune. If you want just a intake and exhaust for now get a warranty and have no worries.

When I was in college, I drove a $500 Ford Festiva. That was the most reliable car I ever owned. I wasn't much of a ladie's man, though, and that car certainly didn't help matters.
