ideas for how to prep valve cover for paint
#3
Clean it thoroughly with acytone and then use a red scotchbright pad to scuff up the surface well. U wanna give the paint a good surface to grab to. Then blow it off and wipe it down lightly with acytone and when its dry paint away. Yes use high temp primer and if u wanna really nice job sand the primer with 1500 grit and also wet sand the clear coat. It'll be nice and shiny.

Yeah u would have 2 buff it. The red pad will work just fine. Its ur choice. If u wanna do it quick just clean and spray. If u wanna really nice professional look u gotta put in the work.

He nailed it up top. If it was me though i would pressure wash it to get all the nooks and cranies cleaned, then clean it with acetone, alcohol or some kind of surface prep, then scuff it with a scotch bright or a 600 grit sand paper, clean it again, primer it, wet sand the primer with a 600 or higher grit paper, clean it again with "alcohol", then paint and clear it.
