its a sensor that detects air temp/ air load and is partially responsible for determining the amount of boost the cold side charge pipe is undertaking. The small black tube leading from the chrage pipe right next to that sensor is the other factor responsible for determining boost as well as determining the right balance of fuel to air.

I know this info cause I broke the tube off and saw the result, lol. and a seperate occassion I broke the sensor and saw the result, lol. If you snap that tube off, you wont see a CEL and you'll notice the car struggling really badly to maintain boost. It'll bounce around badly. Breaking the sensor throws the car into limp mode and you get a CEL. but that little black tube will go un noticed so if you experience boosting problems then its most likely a disconnected vacuum line (the black tube).

Love my injen CP just recommend some new couplers as the supplied ones are sort of short but they work if done right; and get tbolt clamps. Got mine on and love it, takes the shortest route possible
