Here's step one for my engine bay, powdercoated valve cover. What a biatch it was to take off that one breather line off the back nearest the intake.

Yea that valve cover looks amazing, im going to do mine in red if i ever get around to it!!

To clear up some confusion, the valve cover with the bowtie on it does not come with the bowtie. i just put it on there because i felt it was too plain, i like it and it does look better in person.

The company that did my valve cover definitely did a great job. It's has a really smooth finish even when viewed close up and in person.

There doesn't seem to be any right way to remove this braided tube from the valve cover. The part with the green marker on it:

Don't pay attention to the red arrow. That was for another question.

Other than the removal of the braided hose in the pic of the previous post, it's a fairly easy job, given ones mechanical aptitude. For me, it's was say 3 out of 10 (not counting the braided hose. What I would suggest is, if you can get the clip itself that goes inside the braided hose fitting, you can then sacrifice the original one. Using a big flat head screwdriver, pry like a biatch between the hose and the valve cover, and the hose will come off, replace the clip inside with the new one. If you can't get a clip, see about buying a new braided hose. That said, make it a 5 out of 10 because of the removal of the braided hose. The other one at the back is easier because there is room to use a fuel line removal tool. Use the plastic ones, 1/2" I think it was, push it into the end of the braided hose, and POP, the hose comes off the valve cover.

I didn't use any instructions, other than to know what sequence to tighten the valve cover bolts and the amount of torque.

That braided hose everyone mentions (Oil return from turbo) does look like a pain in the ass.

I haven't looked at it personally or tried this tool yet, but there's a fuel filter removal tool for certain Tahoes and Suburbans. Basically it looks like a fuel line tool but cut in half and with a separate handle.

The two pieces go in individually then the handle applies pressure to release the clip.

You're not allowed to post.

I'm gonna be doing the same sort of finish on mine as well. Instead of Candy Orange I'll prolly use a baby blue or something.
