Here is a good book on understanding how the flow bench works and how to read the numbers and what they mean..

Hope you have someone familiar with DI do it, because it would be easy to mess up the head.

How so? I've flow bench a few small engine heads and were much more careful with the bench itself rather than the head

^This.

ZZP is the only one that has actually ported an LNF head to make any kind of gain. The direct injection makes a huge difference in how the air needs to be introduced into the cylinder matched with proper piston design ,injector angle, spark plug etc etc etc.

Have fun with it but don't think that because you got better flow numbers on a bench that you are actually going to make power. Chances are is that you'll hurt the motor more than help it.

do not touch the ski ramp section on the floor of the runner right before the valve unless you want a tuning nightmare that results in no torque. i know because i have that done already.
i know someone will say proof so heres my ports:
factory intake chamber side

modified chamber side

modified manifold side

LNF intake flow is horrible. WAY less than LSJ or NA heads.

The flow issue is with the sharp break as pictured by another user. Just round that off and gains are massive...on the flow bench. bolt it back on the car and HP is GONE.

This is the part of modifying cars that I will never understand. It sounds like a huge waste of money for minimal gain. Strap a bigger turbo on it, put some valve springs in it, make more power. Cheap and easy.

well i already have a fully built motor with zzp valve springs/cams, full bolt ons, ccs3 26 psi tune on e47 and methanol injection. custom turbo kit with a pte dbb 5857 billet wheel turbo so no its not a waste of money because ive done everything else i can this is the last piece

Ah. You have old numbers on your sig, then. You're already past the point where I even understand taking a front-wheel drive.

define fine. these are the heads i was going to get for my 65 merc. you have to have the tune and cams to take advantage of the airflow gains. but like he said its easy to screw up and it seems people have tried.http://www.totalengineairflow.com/pr...ted-high-port/

do you have a picture of the stock head without the porting? especially with a view of the intake & exhaust side ports looking through to the chamber? [the opposite of the first picture]

Yeah, its not like you have much torque steer with a larger turbo due to the slower spool. You just spin a lot, lol.

I'm having a spare intake mani tb opening bored out a half inch right now. Will def need tuned for it but should see quite a gain with a larger turbo. Going to be running the 3.6DI throttle body. I'm estimating with the ported intake mani somewhere around 10-20 crank hp.
