Low boost

Low boost
Ok, took my 09 SS with 3k miles on it to the dealer to have th open recalls taken care of. One of them was an inlet duct or something to do with the intercooler. Now when I get on boost I get a steady 14 psi. Used to spike 17 and hold at 15. I called the dealer to ask if there could be something left loose causing a leak. They said the recall was probably to lower the boost. Also this dealer told me not to do a Sri or cai or dp. They also recommended not doing gms1 or any mods. They say cai or Sri or dp will void my warranty. Do I need the new dealer mod? But the lowered boost is really noticeable performance wise. Am I gonna be wasting my time taking my car to these guys? Problem is they are supposed to be the chevy performance dealer in my area. They sell and service more vettes and camaros than any dealer in the state.

an intake cant void your warranty.. atleast thats what my dealer said, now a CATLESS dp can, but a catted downpipe cant
they cant tech void your warranty, theres a law on it, something law of 1975, they can void parts of your warranty, like say, a catless dp causes some sort of damage, they can refuse to fix it due to it being caused by your mod, but i have yet to hear of anyone actually bringing this up to the dealer and not getting their warranty voided

sounds like a load of horse crap. GMS1 which Gm feels safe putting on a vehicle for 100k miles, and that tune runs at 20 Psi. those pipes are built to withstand 20 psi and above. tell them to get the stick out of their ass....id say its possible something is left loose but for a change in the coupler should not lower boost pressure.

Try searching the forum, this is the recall you are speaking of:
https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/08-1...alt-ss-181518/ It does not affect boost levels.
Did the temperature change or anything? You're not going to boost the same on a colder day as opposed to a hot day. When my car was stock, it would hold at 15psi. When it was cooler or cold, it would only hold around 13-14psi. The exact boost level is going to vary to some degree depending on weather conditions.
As for as the warranty, the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975 prevents any dealership from voiding your warranty solely based on aftermarket parts installed on your vehicle. The dealership/manufacturer has to prove that a particular part caused a particular failure.
Also, GMS1 was produced by GM and they obviously felt it was a safe increase in power as they allow the warranty to continue to 100k miles. So whether the dealership thinks you should install it or not, if you have GMS1 and brought your car to the dealership for service, they have no choice but to honor your warranty.

It was cooler last night, about 60 or so. Still surprised I didn't see the usual spike then steady out. It just spooled up to 14 and held there. Gonna try to check it out this evening, in the 70s here now.
As for the dealer and gms1, he didn't say it would void me, he said "I wouldn't do a thing to it, the car was engineered the way it came." He did however say aftermarket parts would void. I got the impression that he may have had problems dealin with gms1before, and just wanted not to deal with it. Kind of felt like he just didn't want to deal with me. And really as far as gms1 goes, I have beenleaning more toward an hptuner anyway. Just would have to flash back for warranty I guess.
Thanks for the input, I'm thinking new dealer might be the best way to go for starters.

Of circe they dont want you doing the gms1 they dont want you running down their comaro would they. Somethings lose or they cracked your charge pipe.I would get the gms1 and the hahn charge pipes and anytime you have an parasite I would just put the stock pipes back on.
