Ok, here's the rundown. All of a sudden,my car starts, idles funny and shuts off. It will not stay started. Took it to a garage just to get it looked at, guy said he's 99% sure it's the MAF,but i'm not getting a CEL for anything other than my bad MAP sensor which i'vee had for a couple months with no issue. So, we try putting in new MAF, same problem.Here's the kicker, when we unplug the MAF it runs and drives, just won't boost at all... I am very confused, and rather annoyed, can anyone shed some light??? By the way fully bolted and Tuned by BYT.

 

We need codes or a history of what you were doing before this started, but you likely have a boost leak, probably from a cracked IC endtank. It'll run without the MAF plugged in because it's in open-loop.

Were you hitting WOT, then let off and this started? Did you hit a big pothole or inclined drive? Stuff like that.

 

I bottomed out slightly before it happened... but it wasn't major just a scrape... there are no codes. just the one for my blown ass MAP sensor... but it would start and then shut off with a blown intercooler tank?

 

well, cracked intercooler endtank it is... thanks for the response id never have looked there and it is indeed broken. any chance of patching it til i get my hands on a new one? i dont get paid for a week and i cant really afford to drop 500 on a turbo xs one at the moment anyway...

 

Depending on how bad it is, I've seen someone on here patch it and get away with it for a little while. You can't boost though so that sucks lol. You can patch it and then it'll at least run until you get a new intercooler.

It lasted me about about a week, until my ZZP IC arrived.

I get a cookie, btw. Everyone tell 09CobaltSS.

 

I gorilla glued mine and then wrapped it in synthoglass. Lasted a month until I could get my tr10. Even boosted through it just fine.
