Making pigtails for the LNF Stage kit

Hello;

I want to see about making pigtails for the LNF Stage kit, but I cannot confirm if in fact any of the pig tails I am looking at might work.

I'm not so much worried about weather they lock together properly, but I am concerned about if they plug in properly.

The lower MAP sensor uses a "female" four-wire plug...

I was thinking about maybe using one of the following "male" plugs to connect to the supplied Bosch connectors to make my own pig tails;

option #1

AC Delco PT2084 / #88988641

option #2

AC Delco PT1694 / #89046648

----

The upper MAP sensor uses a "female" three-wire plug...

I was thinking about maybe using one of the following "male" plugs to connect to the supplied Bosch connectors to make my own pig tails;

option #1

AC Delco PT1429 / #15306377

option #2

AC Delco PT2103 / #88988356

I'm first trying to verify if I'm on the right path, and if in fact either of these plugs will work...

I have been told that a pre-fabricated pigtail assembly is in testing stages right now, but am kinda frightened at the prospect of just how much it might charge (since it null & voids roughly 1/3 of the GM stage kit), and the fact that any of these single GM pigtails seem to cost around $50/each...

I'm going to pause now to state the obvious;
Yes I know I could cut into my factory wiring, but I'd really rather not.

The other option would be to unpin the original female plugs, and replace with a suitable part, and corresponding male connector...

I find it inconceivable (considering GM's past track record of interchangeable parts) that they would use several specific connector ends... ??

Thoughts?

as in hte stock sensors?

(taken from a solstice forum)

other than posting pictures I dunno...
I figure that someone here has to work at a dealer which has some of these pigtails on hand to confirm if they might work...

Yeah, I know it's a long shot!

the one on the right looks an awful lot like the same connector on the LSJ TMAP, and actually the sensor looks the same too except the connector is bent at a 90 off the sensor. If it is, then you could actually replace it with this 3 bar sensor Home ť Shop ť Sensors ť Pressure Sensors ť Bosch 3 Bar TMap Map Sensor with IAT

The other one the connector looks a lot like the normal GM late model map sensor and I bet I could find a sensor that used that connector and went in the right hole and would only need a little bracket (really just a piece of metal strap with holes in the right spots) to go right in without wiring.

If you cant tell I'm trying to find you sensors that will go right in without wiring and only require maybe some tune tweaking to work correctly. I mean its not like anyone actually uses the GMS1 tune anyways, everone uses the stock tune with GMS1 tables because the GMS1 has more boost limiting things that we dont have access to. If you could get me the diameter of the holes that the sensor probes go into I could be even more help.

yeah, I'm not interested in using different sensors - thanks though.

Didn't know this was available. Certainly would make things easier, cleaner and dare I say more reliable?

Ya, I just saw yesterday on GMSC that CED started selling them. It's about time. The biggest headache about the swap was soldering the lower pigtail on.

Unhappy Son of a ....

I would have gladly spent the $'s had I known about this, or if it was available at the time.

No slice & dice of the wire harness =

Oh, well.

Good Find !!

What is the point of me going 3bar now? Is this something I should do? Or don't worry about it?

3 bar you can run more than 22 psi of boost correctly. I wouldnt trust any tuner who would do anything else.

Well, I do 23psi, I have trifecta.

I spike to 25psi often on WOTs, does this mean my performance is dropping past 22psi

No it means that no matter what boost pressure you're actually making above 22 psi the computer thinks its 22 psi. Which is often not safe.

The sensor feedback look up table is manipulated by the tuner.

So how would this benefit me? If I buy GMS1 is it a waste of $460 plus the install at a dealership? I have two ecus, stock and trifecta ecu.

I'd put on my stock ecu get GMS1 installed, then I email Vince and say hey buddy, I got GMS1 sensors, can I get a tune upgrade and put on my Trifecta ECU upgrade my tune and datalog it? Then I'm set up for new sensors.

Tell why would I do this?

Why is it smart for me to, I don't mind doing it, but I just wanna know why?

Jeesh, it's all about you isn't it.. j/k..

You specifically will see no benefits from upgrading to the 3 bar maps so I would honestly save your money if I were you.

Me personally (and others who are not using the map sensors for the GMS1) see the benefit by being able to accurately log boost over 22.5psi. It just takes the guess work out of dialing in boost due to the restrictions that a 2.5bar map sensor will give you when logging boost over 22.5psi.

2.5 bars = 250kpa (although technically they will register to 255kpa)
255kpa = 36.9psi (absolute pressure)
255kpa - 1 atmosphere (or about 100kpa or 14.5psi) = 22.5psi total actual boost the map sensor can register

3 bars = 300kpa
300kpa = 43.5psi (absolute pressure)
300kpa - 1 atmosphere = roughly 29psi total actual boost the map sensor can register
