My build
My build
Well drove down to Ohio, met Chris Miller and picked up his block. Nice guy, block looks good. Going to be putting it into my Saturn Sky Redline i picked up. I did have a Cobalt SS Turbo but sold it and am moving on to RWD.
My build will be:
Chris Miller's LDK built motor:
Gen 3 LDK block. 2.0 liter with 4 thou PTW clearance
Wiseco pistons
ZZP rods
GM bearings
ZZP neutral balance shafts
Stock crank
ATI OD damper
2.4 ported throttle body
ZZP ported head
ZZP springs with titanium retainers
ZZP stage 3 cams with actuators for 8k RPM operation
5th Injector with 80lb injector
Opel Injectors
Turbo:
I've gotten AGP to make me a custom S363 turbo with a .63 backside housing. 4" anti surge. I didn't do a huge backside housing because I wanted to help spool a bit. I'm hoping the .63 housing won't kill it too bad. I'm hoping for spool in the 5k range. With an 8k rev limiter, it should work well.
Clutch:
I haven't decided on a clutch, although I'll need a strong one.
Extras:
I'll also be using a custom manifold to fit this large turbo. As well custom charge pipes with BOV, and using Werk's intercooler most probably (because ZZP doesn't make one for the Sky), and lastly custom downpipe and dump tube.
Along with this, a 46mm Tial Wastegate, ZZP Knob Style Boost Controller.
Add a WOT box, Slicks on the rear, a roll bar, and it'll dance.
I'll keep everyone informed as to how it goes with everything.
There is more drivetrain loss for sure, just from having this car tuned on the K04. So i'm not sure how much power I will make. I'm hoping for high 400s to 500 on pump and between 600 to 700, Dynojet, on e85 ethanol.
Gotta figure out how to wire an electronic switch on this 5th injector, so I can turn it off when running pump, and turn it on when i'm running e85. As I'll only be doing that for track.
Let's hope the rear diff doesn't explode. Ha.

Depends when my mechanic can get up and running. Work on it over the winter. I want it done by April 1st.
The compressor map will be different with the .63 housing. It'll choke up for sure and never reach peak flow. I'm going to aim to get it working on pump gas first, make 500, and then up the boost. 600 or disappointment lol.
I figure the block can take 700whp and 45psi with ease.

I know it'll choke it back up top but shouldn't be too bad. You didn't want to go with an EFR? I think the 8374efr would be bad ass
Problem is though nobody thinks about reliability, what works simply, over and over.
Journal Bearing turbos are easy to fix cheaply.
Borg Warner S300 turbos are built like tanks and rarely break.
The turbo was cheap.
I don't want extravagent. I want something that works over and over.
Plus i think it's good to keep torque low and flat instead of spiking, keep load off the trans and stuff.

True I don't know too much about the bigger ones but the 256et is one of my favs and I'm loving what infra gets from his 259et
Can't wait to see this built up.
I won't be breaking records. There is more drivetrain loss to make up like I stated before. And at that point I'll be mixing half e100 and 116 or even diluting it more which may be complicated and I may just say **** it.
Just want to go to the track. Run e85. Kill kill kill.

There is something to be said about a car that can be driven at any given time as much as you want that can kick ass on the daily and be reliable. Not that a record breaker isn't fun, but a streetable consistent car that makes respectable power is much more fun in the long run. You've got the right plans for the car
Exactly. I bought the truck to trailer it there and be able to take it home should something happen. **** always happens once and awhile. But if it's becoming a headache time and time again it's not fun. Running 500whp on e85 on the track and then turning up the boost as the day goes on and the car making it through the day would be killer.

I don't think anyone has blown an axle, rear end, or a trans except for that 2jz guy. He blew his trans. The syncros can go. But the trans is good for 100 lb ft more than a 4.45 I believe.
