Need p/n for front downpipe gasket!

For 2010 Cobalt SS. When installed, it looks like part of the downpipe (the part that has the cats welded into it). The way it fits, it is crushed into a recess in the rectangular flange and is a gold kind of color.

I think there's something wrong with the search on the OEM parts sites, they keep returning 12609878 which is NOT the right part, I think this is the larger gasket for the inlet to the S-pipe. Any help appreciated!

I've posted it before, I have one at home but I'm at work. Let me see what I can dig up.

Looks like the right number to me...

12609878

GASKET

$8.48

From a past order of mine. It's the donut between the 4 bolt flange and the DP, it's the same one for the upper section pipe also.

You can go to GMPD and pull up the exhaust illustration and it's #2 and #4 in the drawing.

Well, that's the part number from when I replaced mine on my '08 2 years ago. I pulled up the GMPD order online and verified it, also checked the bag on the spare I have (for when I put the cat back on for emissions).

Don't know what else to say... That's the part I used.

Wrong part packed in your shipping bag? IDK.

Yeah I don't know either. Big mystery. This new gasket is way bigger than the recess in the DP flange (on both the old and new DPs). Thinner, too, and different. This one is black, the original one is thicker, smaller OD and ID, and looks like it was built up by brazing (I know this sounds kind of weird, but that's what it looks like).

If I have time tonight, I'll measure the one I still have in the package. They must have changed suppliers after the bankruptcy and got the wrong specs. Very weird indeed.

Maybe it seals the flange faces now instead of sitting in the recess? You could call Tom @ CED or email him, tom@crateenginedepot.com

Actually on the stocker and CIA DPs, visible in the CIA DP install thread pics, it looks more like there's a coppery ring inserted and welded, brazed, or soldered into the flange to cover the raw edge of the flex joint that protrudes into the flange hole. I think my new DP is missing this ring.

Also there is no gasket per se, this ring is what I've been calling the gasket, and also I thought it was to be pried out of the old one and reused in the new one, but since it's probably permanently attached, I shouldn't call it a gasket.

Well, whatever. Yours is 2 years newer and mine was part of the '08 pilot run, I has a gasket. It's a crush to fit ring. I'll take a pic tonight.

Your referenced CAI install thread shows prying the old one out (pic 9) and putting a new one in (pic 11).

True..There was no gasket on the front flange when I took it off..ZIP..NADA. I was expecting one too. Hahn DP went on (no gasket) and there are no leaks either (has been on for couple months now).

The thing that was getting pried out is that 2008 gasket you were typing about. Notice that inside the gasket is something else. I think that's the non-pryable one I need brazed into the flange.

I'm not there on yours, so I don't know but I didn't think mine had a gasket the first time I took it apart. When I went from a catted ZZP DP to the catless one (2nd change) was when I did the digging and found it after people told me it was in there. Maybe GM decided the flanges sealed well enough without it, but I'm the guy that was missing the teflon seal on #3 injector for 50k miles.

4" OD, ~3 9/16" ID, ~3/16" thick. Here's what it looks like before it's crushed into place in case you never got one....

As was posted earlier, it's #2 & #4 in this drawing, for 2008-2010.

I see that ring in the turbo flange to DP and on the elbow to turbo. I thought they were pressed in there and never tried to replace it. Everyone else that has installed a DP hasnt replaced that ring either. I wonder if its a recommendedreplacement?

Mine leaked after the second DP change, so I replaced it after I put the catless DP on. I prob crushed it crooked once.

If yours ain't broke, don't fix it.

The Hahn Cat Con Dp I have doesnt have a recessed ring to put a gasket in to, so i guess i put it in the turbo flange.
