Newber Halp - Spring Instal

OK, this should have been a piece of cake but northeast winters seem to have gotten the better of me :/

Tried to install new pedders, things were going smooth until I hit the but holding my endlinks on. I sprayed everything with my buddies rust buster. The problem is I couldn't find anything to stop the bolt from spinning while I crank on the nut.

I noticed there was something cut out of the end of the bolt but it didn't look like an allen wrench would fit into it. I tried wedging a wrench into the open center section but it doesn't seem like there's a flat edge to hold onto. Does the plastic cap on the back side pop off? Searching the how-to's I haven't found anyone with the same problem. **What am I doing wrong and how do I get that nut off???

I've been stuck driving to and from work hearing/feeling slight knocks and creeks because I can't tighten it either, it spins in place!! Everyone and their mother has swapped springs, can anybody give me some advice???

27,000 miles and 2 upstate NY winters ...

*Install :0)

mine did on my old one, I had to grab onto that mother with a pair of pliers and then take the nut off, major pain in the ass.

At least I think that was what I did, that was 8 months ago.

Mmm yeah I tried plyers, crescent wrench and anything else I could find to clamp on there.

Thinking to find and buy some moog endlinks, I have to do some research.

Get visegrips and squeeze as hard as you can. Then use an impact.

Yep, good suggestion but been there done that. Vice grips were attempt 3 or 4 and we assumed the impact would break it loose. No luck, just spun away.

Looks like I might have to just cut them out.

I fought with those things for like an hour. You can use a small bit of heat. Do not use to much as it can ruin the shock or worse, explode. Your vicegrips are to worn out or you're not clamping down on the link hard enough. Keep trying.

There is a flat spot in there by the rubber part i think its 17mm or 15mm it will strip easy though, you can always try the lower one as well just a little more fun to work with. good luck.

Kinda ironic. You took a pic of the flat spots in on the endlink. You'll need to hold those with a wrench. You might need to grind the wrench down so that it's a bit thinner. The other thing that will help is if you can hit the other side with an impact. A honkin impact will probably do the trick without even having to put a wrench on the other side. See if you have any friends with the Snap On cordless that you could borrow for this.
