So if our cars require oil that is 6098m and dexios 1 approved. What is the 4918m gm approval ? Why isnt the edge titanium certified for that too. Or does that one not involve our cars ?

ya maybe in a fully built race engine.. but im sure most synthetic oils that meet the same specs and certifications as Mobile1 work just as well in our cars.

That was in a round about way the basis for my original question. Because Walmart also has the 4.4L jugs of Castrol on sale for $28. And I got to thinking , I wonder if i should use Castrol in my new LNF. But after all this good info. Im either gonna use Mobil 1 or Mobil 1 extended performance. I want to run an oil that is approved for all 3 qualifications. Which I think both Mobil 1 and Mobil 1 ep are approved for all three. Gm6098M , Gm 4096M and Dexios 1 . Which so far. I can't figure out if the lnf's even need the oil to be 4096 approved. Or just 6098 approved. As well as maybe Dexios 1 ? What ever that one is... IDK....

LNFs called for GM4718m, its in your OM. Its usually full synthetic oils that met this standard. Factory fill was Mobil1. If you can't find 4718 oils, Dexos1 is the recommended oil. I think Quakerstate Ultimate Synthetic is probably the least expensive widely available quality oil available for our cars.
