oil pressure grrr
dangit every time my car warms up my oil pressure gauge reads less pressure, almost down to 20psi at idle when it used to be 30. but my gauge is being kinda jerky with its response. and at wot i get only 70 psi when it used to be 80. gauge is responding slow, no lights on yet, so im starting to think it may be my sendor is shot, wanna replace it but those defi pressure sendors are $155. with gauge like 250. what to do.

if i change the sendor, i want heatsheild wire wrap for the wire, to close to turbo so there is alot of heat on the wires and such. scared that may be causing issues

i just changes the oil a month ago, and i checked the level, its fine. i will probably take out the sendor and clean it, but its a pita bigtime to get out and back in. took me like 2 hours to install it. so tight a squeeze. but my car does have that one valve ticking so im putting it back to stock and taking it in soon again, just put on stock downpipe, got ride of my lower ic pipe with the meth bung, ripped out the meth injection, which i only used like a tank of. not really worth it for me anyway, will install it on my sand rail. just gotta detune it and its going to the shop, maybe i should wait till after they fix it and see if the gauge is still acting funny.
idk how id go about making a heat shield for it
yes but i used to see 30 psi at idle when it was warm, in summer, now im almost down to 20 when its warm in winter. that aint right.

I think you're reading a little too much into it, my man. You just need to uninstall that gauge and stop worrying. The last time I remember being concerned with oil pressure on a 300hp car was never.

so how do u clean it? just let it soak in methenal or something?
That's the thing: it's not going to be dirty. If it is, I guess simple mineral spirits are the key. I think if it was clogged, you would have more pressure. We're not talking about flow, we're talking about pressure.
20 psi at idleis fine. ur dealer should read the GM guidelines on oil pressure. I grew up living in fear of oil pressure gauges. Like u I would get paralyzed when it would change. It changes with temp, with road condition even in summer it will change from asphalt road to concrete, its a function of temperature.
BMW taught me: redlite for minimum is all u need.
and btw when the red lite comes on at full reves, its generally all over anyway lol
4 cylinder real ecotecs are the best motors right now anywhere so be happy
