Question p0497 evap code and random ticking?

the car threw the evap code p0497 code which is the silinoid( pardon my spelling) but what is the possible fix for this or cause of it....also i lifted my hood today while the car was running and it was making a random tick sounds like from under upper charge pipe but its not costant it ticks then stops and 5 seconds later it ticks again and i know it not the usual motor tick these motors make...anyone have a clue?

Its most likely normal ticking, unless you over-reved it. These cars have tons of ticking at idle. As for the Evap code, it sounds like the purge solenoid went bad. Its a 15 dollar part and the solenoid is on top of the intake manifold next to the MAP sensor.

The only way I see it being a valve is if you over-reved it or your not using factory spec oil, but anything is possible I guess. Make a video of it if you can and ill try to diagnose it further.

I've seen dumber things from a chevy dealership, lol. Not following the specs for engines specified on their computers.

You might want to replace your solenoid. It can make a tick but should be constant. I bought a brand new one and it constantly ticked. Never threw a code as it ticked.

This. Here's the solenoid:

I think it's $32. You can remove it in about 2 minutes. After you remove it, blow into it. If you get air going though it, it's stuck open, and needs to be replaced.
