Well I just got these two codes for the second time. They are not allowing the car to stay running or start at all really. Got them originally a week ago on start up and cleared the codes. Started right up. Been a week or about 100 miles and now the codes are back with the same symptoms. Rough idle to no start. I've read that it has to do with the ECU and throttle position. I'm not sure where to go from here because by clearing the code the car instantly goes back to starting and driving normal. Any ideas? 2008 lnf with hp tune, cbe, ic, and dejon Sri.

 

What have you temps outside been like?
Bring the PCM indoors and let it warm up. PO606 usually act up in colder weather. Reinstall the warm PCM and see if that make a difference in getting started.

Every PO606 I have seen requires a replacement.

 

if its coupled with another code, go after that code first. I can almost guarantee that fixing the P2101 will take the P0606 with it.

 

It's been about 35 to 40 degrees lately. I just wonder why when I clear the code the car runs fine? It's weird.

 

P2101 should be the throttle body or the connector to it.

P0606 Could spell trouble. Possibly a bad ECM.

 

Not weird... It looses the enable criteria it saved and has to see it again, which for this code is near instant since it is a continuous monitor code.

 

while it is a possibility that its the ECM, it is very unlikely.

Likely to be the TB or wiring

 

When it won't start, does it even crank over? PO606 should disable crank mode.

 

Yea it turns over but won't stay running. It chokes and then eventually shuts off. Basically it stays running for about 4 seconds

 

Start with the P2101 then. The PO606 disables cranking.
If you throttle body has the thin plastic side cover, find a good one to try. Do not attempt to clean it before trying it. They hate solvents getting inside.

 

In my experience, if you let the ecm go to sleep after p0606 sets, the car will restart. Usually about one minute i think.

What do you mean by sleep?

Zzp has the throttle body for $70. Should I just start there?

 

You can test/diagnose wiring and parts before just changing them. That would be the free/smart way to do things.

Letting the car go to sleep means you remove the key, open and then close the drivers door, and wait about a minute. After this time, all the modules in the car go to a "sleep" or low power state.
