Part #s for Front and Rear Pads/Rotors
Part #s for Front and Rear Pads/Rotors
I saw the topic on brakes, but in it was a lot of part #s posted and people arguing back and forth over whether or not they would work or not...
I'm wanting to replace them all, front and rear pads/rotors... not wanting the top of the line as my car never sees any hard driving through corners, just some working parts

going with the Napa Rotors, part # 48880706 for the rear rotors.... and proZak has a picture of them installed on his car, so I know they work... lol... not really worried about the pads, I could find them, the rotors is what I didn't want to **** up

you can get pads from napa too ... I bought em from there too, they had to special order them ... hold on I'll get you the pad # from NAPA
for NAPA:
The rotor is a OEM COBALT ROTOR part # 48880706 ($32.89 times 2)
The pad is a OEM SAAB PAD part# SS7874AM ($59.99)

different car, but the old man's 01 4runner for 107k out oh his pads. dealer told him they were still 40% life left too. he decided to just get em replaced though.
well, I took the car into the dealership today with 22k on it and they are still going to replace the rear pads and rotors(or turn the rotors 1st and if that doesn't work, replace them)
I didn't think these rotors could be turned, but I don't know a lot about brakes... they replaced them because of "uneven wear"... told me that if the front had been worn out, or the outer rear pads, that it'd been chalked up as abuse but they should not have worn the inside rear pad out that fast, it was metal to rotor... so at least my dealership has common sense even if GM engineers dont

interesting note, on my print out form the warranty work, it had a part that said "unable to issue recall, aftermarket part" and it had a recall # listed... I asked my dealer what that was about and the dealer told me that he had contacted GM to see if they were having and issue with the brakes and he was told that they were... that the Camaro SS is ALSO having problems with Brembo brakes, and apparently, Chrysler is with its SRT division as well... the problem is, Brembo is blaming the manufacturers and won't actually stand behind the product apparently... my question is, why our dealers still using Brembo brakes? they may stop well, but they give off entirely WAY too much brake dust and apparently won't stand behind their products when they give trouble
also the reference to the aftermarket part was that Brembo is NOT a GM certified part, that is what confused me...

I am at 25,000 miles nd I still have plenty of pad left on my front rotors. MY rear pads were replaced at 14,000 just because they were about 1/2 wore on the inside.
