pics of the carnage!

well took the valve cover off to find this:

rockers are thrown all over the place, dropped a valve obviously...

10 o'clock to the spark plug hole on the right, the tip of the valve is broken off and the seat for the rocker snapped

heres a close up of the broken rocker seat and valve tip

all the rockers for the exhaust cam came off. what do you guys think? input would be helpful

Isn't this the same thing that happened to Badbaltguys old Hahn car that Chevycobaltss bought?

I could have swore Chevycobaltss said he found broken lash adjusters also while diagnosing what was wrong with the car.

Too bad it's an LNF lol..

Good thinking with the cotton on the spark plug holes, wouldn't want something to fall in the cylinders like metal chunks or a valve.. lol.

I broke a lash adjuster in my car. Just one though. I didn't even know it until I pulled the valve cover and swap it out...

not cotton, disposable shop rags but thanks

so the only thing i really see that needs replacing is the rocker seat, weird as hell that it just snapped off. lash adjuster looks fine to me, just popped off. can anyone explain why all the rockers flew off? looks like im going to have to drop the engine after all. the guy before me tack welded the turbo to the downpipe AND the turbo to the manifold. what a dick...

so its going to be another week or so until i can find a shop to work because the driveway isnt going to cut it

Did I read that right? Someone tack-welded the turbo? How do you tack weld cast-stainless and cast-iron together?

Ure lash adjuster are broke or atleast that one... Lift the cams up by taking the cam guides out and take lash adjusters out and replace. Check each roller bearing on the rocker arm.

it was a good idea, but for the person taking it apart its a pita. plus its literally impossible to get to the bolts on the tubular manifold with the engine in the bay. im just going to drop the entire subframe and engine and pull the manifold off with the turbo and downpipe still attached lol

So, the top of that one valve is broken off, right? Which piece of debris is the lash adjuster?

So, the green arrow is the broken piece off the top of the valve and the red arrow is the lash adjuster? What is the blue arrow?
