The dealership uses a Tech II tool to put the computer in learn mode, depresses the clutch once or twice, and saves it.

Without this process, the computer will not allow the car to start.

It's a fun program just in the ECM they added in '08 to insure the clutch was depressed before the ignition will work. A tad more sophisticted than just a clutch sensor. I think mainly to discourage ECM swapping with tuning companies.

Thats a very interesting thought Stevo and certainly true, but its true purpose falls under a couple things, A: more accurate monitoring of the clutch switch circuits are possible with a 3wire sensor than a 2 wire switch(for circuit diagnostics) B: it is used to determine clutch pedal SPEED, and most importantly, it offers higher resolution data on clutch pedal position for use by the VSES program.

And makes shipping pretuned ECMs a big PITA!
