Random Codes 0099 0098 0238
Random Codes 0099 0098 0238
Any help you guys can offer would be great
Car is stock.
two weeks ago I was driving and the car stumbled as I went through the gears and kinda died so I pulled off the road and restarted it. Got the following codes: 0099 0098 0238. It ran without boost but I got where I was going. I pulled the intake air sensor, plugged it back in and it ran fine no problems
Two days ago the same stumbling happened and the codes popped up again. Both times it happened I was moving up through the gears, but not overly quickly. Definitely wasn't pushing it too hard.
Took it to the local garage and they didnt even want to touch it because it involved the turbo. The guys just reset the codes and sent me on my way. Told me I should find a performance shop to take it to.
Can anyone give me any advice? The codes all involve sensors with either a high or intermittent circuit. You guys haven't failed me yet, hoping to get some more good advice on this new, interesting problem.

I know the maf and one of the map sensors are also temp sensors. Since u also have a boost code I'd lean toward ur map sensor needs replacing. But idk someone who knows more about these chime in. It's either the map or maf that seems to have taken a dump. Maybe ur boost sensor on the turbo as well. I'm sure it's one of the 3
Okay, thanks. I figured it was a sensor, not a problem with the actual systems themselves. Anyone else able to help narrow this down a bit?
And is it safe to drive? The guy just sent me on my way and I am assuming its okay, but it seems prudent to ask the question.

oh figured u had stock electrical gauge cause that would tell u if its the map sensor. ......wait I just looked at the codes again and it is intake air temp sensor 2. which is the map sensor on the lower charge pipe. check to see if wires are ok, if they are replace it. should fix it. that is ur map and temp sensor 2. I believe that is ur problem.
It is on the charge pipe that runs from passenger side intercooler to the throttle body. Open ur hood, look down by the rad fans that pipe u see going into throttle body, it's only sensor on there.
Just popped the hood to double check the part number before purchasing the non-returnable part.
The sensor on my car is a Bosch part numbered 0281002845. Am I looking at the right thing?

Its interesting to find out what all has been done to the car before I purchased it. This is the second aftermarket part that has given me trouble, neither of which I put on. So do I need to replace it with one of these?
Also, does this mean I have an upgraded PCM? The product description for the upgraded MAP sensors says that it requires ZZP LNF 1.0 PCM. JUst looked at mine and it isnt marked in any way as something special.

Yes if you have those sensors you some sort of tune most likely gms1 I would just replace the sensor and see how the car runs . You can get the sensor from zzp but I think you can buy them individually from auto parts store for a lot cheaper hopefully someone else can chime in on where to get it . I bought mine from that zzp link
I'm getting approx 18 lbs of boost. So its nothing crazy. The car has since run fine. But I do have some longer drives coming up, mainly a long run from Maryland to OBX in a few weeks, so I want to get it taken care of. My question is that is there any harm being done to the car if I continue to drive with the sensor occasionally acting up?
Also, do I change the sensor that is directly on the throttle body or the one on the pipe down below that we have been discussing?

there is no sensor on the throttle body. there is one on the intake manifold and one on the charge pipe. change the one on the charge pipe. 18 lbs of boost? that doesn't seem like gms1. but could be due to elevation or whatever. 18 lbs of boost seems like stock tune or an aftermarket tune. if it is stock tune, that could be why the codes are popping. u cant use the gms1 sensors with stock tune for that reason. where did u get the car? dealer or private. if it was from dealer go back and tell them to see if the gms1 tune is on there. if it was from a guy, ask what tune he has on it. if he tuned back to stock before he sold it to u, u gotta either get stock sensors or u have to get a tune to get ride of the codes.
to answer ur question, no it wont do any harm to the car to run like that, will just be a pain in the butt.

Okay. Now you are beginning to understand why I am confused with this car hahaha. It's been a few months so I'm not sure why this is happening now all of the sudden.
I bought it used from a Subaru dealership. Next time I'm over that way I guess I need to just ask them whats going on with it.
Really glad to know that it is safe to drive even with this problem. That was my biggest worry.

If be better off going to a Gm dealer, don't think subi dealer can see what tune u got on there. But if it's been good for months it's definitely the sensor. Try that of it still does it then goto Gm and they will tell u better what's going on. Or if u got someone with hp tuners close by could pull the tune and send it to someone that tunes these cars from the site and they can tell u what tune it is
