rattling problem

well when. I first took out my seats, I noticed a lot more rattling. Sepcifically in the plastic that covers the latch for the trunk.

But 2 nights ago, i started my car and got out to smoke a cig, and I heard my hood rattling. I didnt want to believe it, so I put the back of my hand on the hood and it stopped. Let go, and it started rattling a little bit again. Ihavent tried to tighten anything up at all. Anyone have this problem or got an idea on how to fix it????

can someone figure out where the rattle behind the dash is coming from?!?!!? I can hear is in the low rpms real well under WOT. Its driving me nuts. sounds like its right behind the radio leaning more towards the glove box.

I've felt up in their multiple times but I just cant find anything thats lose or making that rattle.

Mine does the same thing and I cannot find the source for the life of me. It is annoying as hell.

its that piece right above the glove box that has the SS on it...it holds tight but not to the rest of the plastic so it rattles off it...atleast thats what it is in mine

I though I checked that too, I guess I'll look at it again. I dont have an SS logo on mine. stupid Sedans dont get that option... I remember it feeling pretty solid on it. How did you fix it?

Well, if it makes sense, the heat shield under my car usually needs to be tightened at least once a year. From the driver's seat, it sounds like the dash trim in the passenger area, and from the passenger area, it sounds like the console area. Try checking if your heat shield beneath the car is loose and tighten it up. It may eliminate the one of many consistent rattles on our posrockets.

i didnt lol **** still rattles... it is a tight fit onto the clip pieces but the rest of the piece itself isnt flush tight enough to keep it from rattling off the dash or glove box

only thing i can think of is cut out some foam piece to put behind it and maybe help take away the rattle

thats a pretty good idea, but Im hoping that a heat shield isnts whats rattling since the car is so new. usually a heat shield starts rattling after a few years and it sounds like a metal pinging noise that can be heard outside the car. I dont hear that. So im thinking its the dash trim like PSHHH is saying.

I was just throwing out ideas... God knows Cobalts are notorious for random idiotic rattles of nonsense.

Get a solid motor mount and poly trans mount inserts....you'll be forced to learn to live with it.
Makes the rattles WAY worse. Subs don't help either. I've found that the front of the dash actually vibrates against the windshield. In the trunk the inner and outer skin of the trunk will vibrate and the shitty trunk light will also vibrate. Not sure if those apply to any of you.

well thank you cgrammar, your ideas will be taken into consideration for future indeavors in the case of the unknown rattles When I think of heatshield rattles I think of the older cars that had the exhaust manifold on the front of the car and wrap under the engine with that massive tin that sits on it. That thing rattles soooo bad after 4-5 years.
