Running dp on tune necessary + add't

All,

I know there have to be a few out there running a tune w/o a dp. I also know there is 10-15 hp in a dp, but is it absolutely necessary?

Right now I'm dumping all my spare cash into my business, but the thought of 300 hp on a 22 psi Trifecta tune is calling me....budgeted $200-$300 for car upgrades this month, next month, and so on....

I wanna get the tune first and dp later, but logic tells me I'd have to retune for the dp. What is the tuning process for subsequent mods? Do I pay the full tune price to retune for future mods? Does purchase of the obd-usb cable come with unlimited retunes for future mods?

Although it's not completely necessary to retune for a dp, but it is required to get the most power out of it. I believe, if you use Trifecta, it's only 50 bucks to adjust your current tune for any additional mods.

If you have the EZflash cable the retunes for that stuff are free. Also, I just sent him my logs after adding a DP and upper CP and he said he didn't need to make any changes. I told him before he made my first tune though that I was going to be adding them within a weeks time so he may have adjusted for it right then.

Yeah, they're pretty easy to put on. It's just one bolt that holds everything up. If I had access to a lift, I could swap it out in 10 minutes, but lying underneath a car on jacks takes roughly 35 minutes.

Speaking of, I need to swap my Dp. I have inspection coming up and we're inspected for emissions here in my part of PA.

Didn't need to make any changes?! Wtf? When I added my charge pipes my fuel trims were off a good bit and when I put my dp on I changed a good bit.

Which direction does it skew the fuel trims?

I figure with a 3-5% power increase you would see a big change in fuel trims.

The direction varied by the MAF frequency but they most certainly required some correction.

how do you take off/on the o2 sensor without twisting up the wires?

Taking off the dp I spun the stock pipe. But putting on the new dp spinnging the pipe didn't help a ton.

I've heard to un-clip it from the harness first and then use an 02 socket.

Unclip the O2 sensor from the harness. It's accessible through the driver's side wheel well. Unwrap the wiring from the heatshield. Pull the O2 out with the downpipe and detach with it out of the car. Attach O2 to new pipe before putting it in the car. I have pics of this in a thread, but it got deleted for some damn reason. I'll put up pics when I get home in the morning. Can't do it at work.

Here's a pic of the O2 harness connector from the driver's side wheel well. YOu have to pull that little blue lock out of the connector, then you can separate the male from the female.

Unwrapping the O2 sensor wiring from the heatshield is easy.
Pull the pipe and O2 sensor/wiring out as one piece.

Reinstall sensor in new pipe before putting it in the car.
